We traveled to visit my dad for a few days this past week. We've traveled with Hannah frequently and she always does well, but we were unsure of how Tumbles would travel, how he would react once at Dad's, and how the 2 would interact once there. They were fantastic!

On the way down, Hannah was an angel and didn't make a peep while in her carrier for almost 6 hours. Tumbles mournfully announced his displeasure for about 30 minutes then calmed down and we didn't hear anything else from him the rest of the trip. But oh the cries! That boy can make you feel so guilty for confining him in that carrier! So mournful and pathetic!!

Once we arrived, Hannah jumped out of the carrier, explored her favorite spots in our room, then went and socialized with Grandpa. She pretty much acted like she owned the place. She was nervous the first night, which is normal, but after that, she was out and about, fully at home. Tumbles hid under the bed for the first night, which I'd suspected he would do, so he had some nice bedding of towels to sleep on. On day 2, he decided to come out from under the bed and explore the room, but wasn't too keen on leaving the room. He also rediscovered his voice.
On day 3, he started exploring the rest of the house and by the afternoon was comfortable coming out to socialize with us.

There were no inappropriate eliminations or explorations, except for when Tumbles decided to jump up on the table while we were eating dinner last night. I was stunned since he's NEVER done anything like that here at home! My dad just shook his head and laughed. Mark and I were so embarrassed!

The return trip was equally uneventful, but Tumbles took longer to calm down and stop whining and crying. Once I put my fingers through the door of the cage and started loving on him, he was fine.

Here they are chillaxin' on the bed.

Sounds like they did very well!

Lynxx
didn't mind car rides when he was younger, then he seemed to get motion sickness and would foam at the mouth.

Luna protests every time we're in the car.

Midnight stays in the back of his carrier crouching and trying to hide.

How fun for you and your kitties!! I have always thought about taking along my kitties to my parents for a visit. It is a five hour drive. Not sure I could take all the meowing and crying on the way
. Glad your kitties were so well behaved, that is great

You should be proud. What good and handsome kitties you have.

Mine would never do that. They'd spazz out completely.

Glad it went well. I was wondering how Tumbles would do.

And lest anyone NOT believe Stephanie about Tumbles' mournful cries---they are the real deal. I have never heard such a loud, deep, painful cry come out of such as small kitten as I did when I was delivering Tumbles to Stephanie last summer. It's truly heartbreaking.

Welcome home!

Same cries, just louder and deeper now!
Seriously, he sounded like a kid who's overly tired and crying himself to sleep and crying out every once in awhile. It really does break my heart, but I know it's safer for him to remain in his carrier.
