My bombay tom will not breed????

so my bombay tom donnie has had several females in heat begging him for attention and each time he just ignores them, he'll be 2years old this july. he shows absolutely no interest in the females in heat in front of him yet still tries to break out of the house. i am very confused by him. i assumed he wanted out for females as he's never been outside before, his only experience outdoors my neighbors dog tried to eat him, i would think after that he would not want outside. i recently acquired a very interestingly marked blue eyed female domestic shorthair and was hoping they would breed. but even with her in heat he ignores her. should i give him time to eventually realize what his testicles are for? he "rapes" stuffed animals usually ones my male dog is playing with, he will steal them right out of the dogs mouth and take them to a corner and "have his way with them" yet he shows no interest in an actual female cat in heat. is he just confused?? will nature eventually kick in or should i have him fixed and get another tom?

Reputable breeders NEVER breed to domestics with unknown pedigrees. Do you have a purebred Bombay with registration papers. I question that because of you wanting to breed to a non-purebred cat. Bombays are only allowed to be bred to other Bombays or Burmese - nothing else.

As to why he won't breed - he may have low sperm count or low testostrome in his system. You would have to have him checked out by a vet to find out.

I say neuter him and if you really want to breed - get quality purebred cats and show them and then breed.

i dont plan on breding them to sell the kittens, i would like a litter to keep. i'm just curious as to why he is so driven to get outside even though the last time he got out almost ended his life, yet he ignores females in front of him.

I totally agree with GoldenKitty. If your cat is not a registered, pedigreed, breeding quality male, please get him neutered. Breeding is not just randomly trying to mate random cats together only to get more kittens without any deeper purpose.

Some reasons for him not breeding could be that he's just not interested. I would normally suggest to check if the queen is healthy as some studs will refuse to breed if the female has a 'hidden' pyometra (not showing symptoms yet) for example, but if he's had several queens and he hasn't even tried, I'd say he's not interested or he has too low self esteem as a first timer.

So you don't own the females you've tried? What kind of cats are they? Purebred or not? This is NOT a top show quality male and he should not be bred period. If you want kittens, go adopt some from a shelter instead.

Are you planning on spaying and neutering EVERYONE? Its immaterial at this point as to why he won't breed. Some cats don't - and smart owners will neuter and spay cats like this.

the first belonged to my mother in law, we were staying with her while my husband was doing a course for his job, we weren't trying to breed him then, her cat just happened to come into heat while we were there and i found it interesting that my boy was not interested at all, shed back up right to him and he'd just walk away. the recent girl i do own. and yes i plane on fixing all of them including the parents if i can get 1 litter out of them
