There is one feral I care for that for some reason all the others avoid. To me he is the sweetest thing. I can't get near him.... but he is def not aggressive. There is one that is and it makes sense the others will run from him. BUT sometimes they eat w HIM!!. This other cat will approach and try to rub heads or eat and they will hunch down and run.

It really breaks my heart. Its like he wants to be friends but no one else does and he's forced to live alone! I have to feed him in another area cause he doesn't even hang out in their living area.... but when he tries.... they scram.

Any ideas why this is??? He's been around for a year now. They r all fixed

Thanks!!!

The even more remarkable is, they dont try to scare him off... nor in any other way to fight him off...
They would probably do it without thinking twice if he was a unwelcome newcomer.
I mean - cats being lowest in the rang, or scapegoats of all, is not so unheard off. Or like you write - nobody wants to be be pal with them.

Some thoughs, Im not sure if it makes sense.

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
I have no idea. This describes our Billy. He is the most "cat friendly" cat I've ever seen. We had to split him up from his brother, and we ended up bringing him inside - but no one would be friends with him.

I can imagine that if we'd left him outside, it would be just like you're describing. I can't explain it.

thanks! I appreciate the responses. I wish I could do something. I mean he is ok and thank God they dont run him off. They accept this one cat that comes around every so often. A few will run up to him and rub heads. But this poor guy whose around every day - hes just an outcast.

I try not to humanize the situation by wondering if he feels emotional pain from this. I know cats are usually solitary anyway - but he doesnt seem to want to be.
If he were at all friendly towards ME i would try to get him a home but until that happens I guess this is how it is.
