Strange Snowstorms

I went to Vermont today with a friend. It was really weird. Some sections it was snowing really hard, like a blizzard, but as we kept driving down the road it was bright and sunny. We kept hitting patches of snow storms like that all day. The main roads were fine, a lot of the back roads weren't even plowed or sanded!

Oh that's normal around here in MN. I have a 2 hr drive to work and have gone thru that many times this winter.

Elevation can make a big difference - you can have sunny weather at the bottom of a mountain, and snow up at the top.

That's how almost every car trip from my inlaws north of Chicago to my home in SE Michigan went. We were basically straddling a Great Lake the whole time (story of my life growing up there) and there would be another lake effect something-or-another every half an hour or so.

It's different here, either it's snowing or it's not. Never saw that before, I think it's cool! Makes me like Vermont even more
