We got a new cat about 5 months ago, and we are having a particularly hard time breaking her of jumping on the kitchen table and counter. We have tried all the obvious stuff.
We tried the spray bottle, but that's only good when you catch her in the act.
We tried double sided tape on the counter edges, but it didn't phase her.
Tried tin foil since cats don't like the feel of it, but of course she doesn't mind.
Tried wiping vinegar on the edges, but she actually licks the vinegar lol.
Also tried an indoor cat repellent, but it keeps her away for a total of about 5 minutes.
We had the idea that she's looking for twist-ties, clips, and pens (since she is always finding those around the house and carrying them to the living room), but even with a clear table she still jumps up there.
It's not like she doesn't have anything to jump on either. She can jump on beds, furniture, kitty condo, etc, but she really likes to get on stuff that gets her in trouble.
Are there any other options other than installing a door or gate?
