Farewell, brave Gandalf the White

Thread Starter
It was a cold, rainy night in February when you came to us, very sick, tortured, almost dead. God led our policeman friend to you on an Amish farm. Since you were white, he almost didn't see you in that snowbank into which you were cruelly shoved, after some degenerate tried to smother you with cow manure, and left you to die.

I spent 2 whole days nursing you, feeding you with an eyedropper, only to fail you; you died the next day. I hope you can forgive me, sweet, gentle Gandalf. We tried so hard to save you. We wanted you to live so badly, and also to spite that piece of crap who tried to kill you.

It's just not right that you probably only knew love and caring the last few days of your very short life. You probably never had a name; perhaps only the perfunctory, "Cat". We named you Gandalf The White, after the wizard in Lord of the Rings. He died as Gandalf The Grey; but was resurrected from the dead as Gandalf The White--as we really thought you would do--you seemed to get better that Wednesday morning.

Gandalf, you were the bravest cat we've ever met. I want you to know that you are remarkable and you are still loved. Not all humans are evil. I only wish you could have known that much sooner.

You now have a real home. We washed you and wrapped you in a lovely red new blanket, and buried you with tears in our eyes. We will NEVER forget you, Gandalf the White and The Brave. May you be in heaven. And may Hell await that farmer who killed you.

You didn't fail Gandalf, you did everything you could for him. And because of you, he knows kidness and love. If you hadn't taken him, he'd never have known that. You are not the 1, who has to ask him for forgiveness.

How utterly painful for you. I am sorry. Thank God for people like you who tried to save Gandalf. He knew love like none other those last few days of his life. And please know you are a saint for trying to save him. Now he is at peace, playing at the bridge.

RIP GENTLE SOUL GANDALF

Gandalf the White.

It's just so heart-breaking. How can supposedly god-fearing people be so cruel?

My4LLMA put it so well. You didn't fail Gandalf. Because of you and your husband, Gandalf had warmth, love, care - Gandalf had a name. And now he has a real home.

Rest in peace, Gandalf.

It broke my heart to read his story when you posted about him before. I am so sorry for your loss. I know it had to be hard for you to lose him. You did not fail him! I think there are special places in Hell for people would would hurt animals like that farmer did!

I cried rivers when I read your first thread and I am crying rivers now. Despicable act by a monster. I don't know what to do to alleviate the suffering that innocent animal souls endure, it rips me apart and it makes me lose my faith in humanity. RIP sweet snowflake, RIP

I was shocked when I read your first post. I had always though the Amish were good people... RIP Gandalf the White. You were loved, and had found a home at last.

What happened was not your fault, but that cold-hearted piece of that did what he did to Gandalf - may he burn in hell.

Rest peacefully, sweet Gandalf. I'm so sorry that in your short time on earth you were treated so badly. But at least at the end, you found what real love was. Bless your heart MargeCat for giving that love to him.

I cannot add better words than have been said. We are all of one mind.

May Gandalf be warm and happy at the bridge, with not a worry in his mind.

May the farmer that is responsible for this heinous deed never feel the wamth and happiness Gandalf lives in now.

I hope he never sees another successful crop for the rest of his sorry life.

This is all so very, very sad, in so many ways.

Thank you for caring for poor Gandolf the White.
