it only took about 4 years....

but tilly my little white and black feral kitty (who is in LOVE with Moo) has finally decided I am safe to snuggle with and she is no longer as afraid of everything and comes out during the day now instead of hiding in the closet until dinner time.

She has been jumping on the bed (for awhile I was afraid she couldn't jump she can just short distances) and been purring and wants lots of head scratches and rolls on her belly for rubs and has been purring up a storm.

Just now she jumped up an joined me on the couch and is now curled up on the couch next to moo. So now instead of just one kitty following me around the house I have TWO kitties following me around!

She is turning into quite a love bug which is surprising since 6 months ago i couldn't go near her without her cowering and running away. now she lets me come up and pick her up and she is acting like moo and those too have been running and playing all day. Its nice to have both kitties chilling out in the room with me. She likes to sit on my piano.

Of course I have been trying gradually over the years to get her to trust me. But for every step forward we had like 20 steps back because once she started to trust me...I had to take her to the vet (this happened alot because of her thryoid problem) but now that it is under control she goes once a year with moo.

I just wanted to share with my cat friends that my little scared feral kitty is warming up into a warm mushy lap cat!!!

Now any suggestions on how to get her to stop being afraid of my husband?

Make sure he's quieter in the house, have him take over feedings, handing out treats, and some litter box duties. And most importantly have Tilly see Moo cuddling on your husband.

I have a house of feral born cats. Some of them only bond to a single person and if you've gained their trust enough to come out in the open for you, you are blessed. If she wants to bond with your husband, she will in her own time, just as she has finally bonded with you in 4 years. If he pushes her right now, he may push her back into seclusion.

And btw.....it took Eightball nearly 14 years to bond with my husband. It was simply his way.

Oh, that is such wonderful, heartwarming news! To finally gain a kitty's trust after a long time is so fantastic!! Yay!

LOL he has already tried feeding her. She won't touch the food if he puts it down but if I do she will eat it. She also runs when he tries to give her a treat.

Moo only really cuddles with me. He will sit near DH when I am not home or sitting on the couch. But once I sit down he leaves DH side and comes running to me purring.

DH says he doesn't get any kitty love! (Moo didn't really like him from the start but has warmed up to him. YOu see when DH first came over to my place he moved his basket from the end of my bed. That angered moo and the first time he slept over moo hopped on me in the morning purring as usual and curled up on me and he said...can you shut that cat up? he is making alot of weird noise! He never lived with a cat before and was a dog person. Now he is sad because the kitties like only me.) BUT Moo is cool with him now. But prefers me.

I am so happy that Tilly has warmed up to me. She is quite a charming kitty. I was brushing my hair last night when this white paw reached out from the door about waist high and was swatting me. I looked over and there was Tilly standing on her hindlegs leaning up against the door post swatting me with her HUGE eyes and purring like a lean mean kitty machine. it was heartwarming.

Moo was curled up next to me in bed as usual When I felt something squeeze in between us. I looked up and there was Tilly wedge up against me. She squeezed herself into the tiny space between me and moo. Again she was purring. until Moo bopped her in the head with his paw and off they ran across the apartment.

That is so amazing!!! Don't you wonder, though, what was it that finally tipped the balance?
