I had my first taste of this sweet and salty treat on Halloween at my Church's Harvest Carnival. I loved it!
Since then, I have tried the microwave type but it just didn't taste the same. Today, I tried a recipe I got online. It is one by Rachael Ray and you make it on the stove top. It is sooooo good!!
1/4c oil
1/2c popcorn kernels
1/4c sugar (next time I make it, I am going to use more sugar, maybe 1/3c)
salt to taste, about 1 tsp
heat oil in large pot (and I mean LARGE, like maybe a dutch oven)
pour in popcorn
when oil starts to sizzle, sprinkle sugar over the popcorn. Put tight fitting lid and once popping starts. Shake shake shake the pot. I used potholders since the dutch oven doesn't have a long handle.
I read that mushroom type popcorn works best but I only had the butterfly type. Still tasted yummy!
When popping stops, toss with salt in a big bowl and enjoy!!
