Do you have https set under Account Security? Email alerts if devices other than your PC/smartphone log into your account?

Thanks for the suggestion.

I'm not sure how the http thing works. Can you explain it?

I did set up the notification.

That's the main reason I won't do FB. A friend of mine got her account hacked into and she had to contact the FBI because her personal info got stolen - along with her banking account info and everything else. She went through you-know-what trying to get everything all straightened out.

Https gives you encryption by activating security features on sites set up for it and is used for online banking, for example. That encryption prevents anybody tampering with the info being sent or "eavesdropping".

On Facebook, it can interfere with some of the apps, like games, by either slowing them down or blocking them. I turn it off if I want to play games, and then reactivate it.

If you're using Firefox, there's an add-on called HTTPS-Everywhere that you can use to make browsing more secure. It doesn't work for a lot of sites, but there are quite a few where it does.
