I took Ziggy to the vet an hour ago to check the cyst under his eye. The vet said it was in a bad spot, and did a fine needle aspirate.

As I was waiting for results, I heard my vet call another one over to the microscope in the treatment room. My heart sank as that's what happened when my Sheba was diagnosed with lung cancer. I then heard my vet say, "It looks like a sebaceous cyst but the biopsy doesn't." The other vet agreed.

My vet came back in and says he suspects a round cell tumor. We are having it removed on Monday.

I was brave in the office. I was brave on the drive home. I'm not feeling so brave now.

Ziggy is my heart cat. He's only 3 years old. I can't believe this is happening again.

If you have any vibes to give, I would appreciate them.

Oh Callie, I'm so sorry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! your vet is WRONG and it is just a cyst! And if it is a tumor, it is easy to remove and that's the end of it.

And
and for you.

Thanks everyone.

Of course I've been researching like crazy and am at this point hoping it is a "mast cell tumor." Those are usually quite benign and treatable. The photos I've found look very similar.

I will be having pathology at Texas A & M take a look at the growth. I can then know for sure. Meantime, I'm examining every millimeter of his skin, to make sure nothing else is present.

I'd had a vet look at the cyst last October, when he was in for a check when he began to pee inappropriately. It was a different vet and she blew it off and said it was nothing to worry with. However, since learning about the tumors in his niece, I decided it warranted a second look. This time I used my trusted vet of 13 years. I'm glad I did.

Strange how my appetite can go from ninety to nothing in a 15 minute span. It will be a long wait until Monday.

Precious Ziggy seems no worse for wear from his ordeal this morning. He didn't even flinch when they did the biopsy. He's been smoothing on me and purring since coming home. He's such a doll.

I'm so sorry to read this about Ziggy. I hope that they are able to just remove it, and that will be the end of it, no further problems.

OMG! Will this never end for you? OK, Zig is young, it is a small area..you had it treated quickly.

Try to concentrate on these things. Yea, I know I am asking the impossible. You don't really "know" until you "know". Vets aren't infallible. Just look at all the posts about wrong diagnosisis.

I sure am keeping all these kitties in my prayers.

Good vibes from here too. I had a friend with a cat who had cancer diagnosed behind his eye. He eventually had to have the eye removed but the surgery allowed him another four years of good life. But let
us all hope that it is not what you fear.
