First adult meow

They grow up so fast, don't they? Tails is six months old today, and as a half-birthday present to himself, he had his first adult meow!

I was on my computer and I thought I heard Memphis' loud meow across the apartment, but he was laying 5 feet away on my bed. So I go to check it out, and Tails sees me and gives me the meatiest, deepest meow he's ever given off. It lasted a few more meows, then he kind of snapped out of it and went back to his kitten meow. I didn't know cats went through puberty woes like voice changes the same as humans, and I had to laugh. I am happy I heard it the first time he did it; I have been wondering if his voice would change at such a slow rate that I wouldn't notice, but this was the same as a kid whose voice breaks for the first time as he's giving a presentation in middle school. And I am sorry to say I laughed like I was one of the cool kids in that scenerio.

This does make me kind of sad, this is the first step in Tails not being a kitten anymore . Pretty soon he's going to be going on dates, dyeing his hair, staying out late, and smoking with cigarettes. Not really, but his cute little kitten meow will be nothing but a memory in a few months...

hhahhahaha cute! I haven't really noticed a difference in Kismet's voice - but I do notice he is more and more vocal... and his vocalizations tend to sound "whiny" lol when he drags out a big whiny raaaaaaaaaaaaaaoooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww I tend to whine back in the same tone "whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaattttt"
he always looks at me like I am nuts

He doesn't like being imitated.

Actually I don't remember Lynxx's meow changing at all. He wasn't a talkative cat, but when he did meow he always said "mom" loud and clear. Luna's meows still sound the same to me, just louder and more damanding when it comes to food now. Midnight's still got a soft little meow, but he's not much of a talker.

I didn't know they changed?. Jack's never found his yet in that case because he still has the same squeeky meow he had when he was a kitten 3 years ago

Aya was a very quiet kitten until I took her in for her spay. Once she was done it was "meow, meow..." I think either she met some other cats at that clinic who taught her how to speak cat properly or she decided she'd better speak up for herself if she didn't want to go to the cat torture place again...

Poor kitty!

ive been feeling the same about jericho! i have kitten withdrawl now that hes such a big boy i miss his little baby lovin's and funny clumsy ways. Now he acts like a sassy teen that wants to be left alone and is embarrassed to have his mom hold him and kiss him im adjusting to letting him love me in his new subtle ways though and every once in awhile he will turn back into a baby and want to curl up under my chin for a nappy

...aw man brings a little tear to my eye!

hahahaahahaha Our babies are growing up so fast *weeps* hehehe

I will say tho I haven't noticed a change in the TONE of his vocals - he is MUCH MORE VOCAL now than he was before. EVERYTHING he DOES has to have verbal accompaniment. It's funny... and it almost always sounds whiny
