I need advice

firstly i would like to say i wasn't sure where to put this post but i sort of see this forum topic area as relevant.

i have 2 questions that i need answering about a situation that took place on my way home from town tonight. i was heading home and due to the time no cars were around me, i was doing 30 going along when out of no where a cat ran in front of my car. i did an emergency stop and swerved into the lane next to me, i saw the cat run off into a garden, i'm 98% sure that i didn't hit the cat but however for my first question i would like to ask is that would i of felt/heard hitting the cat?

the second question i would like to ask is whether or not the cat is likely to of run off and suffered a heart attack due to the situation? it ran off with some haste but just ran into a garden.

i am basically asking for this information as i am an animal lover and would hate the feeling of worrying about this poor cat.

the only extra information i can provide is that my car is a peugeot 106 and that the cat was wearing a collar meaning it was a domestic cat, so it wouldn't of been as hardened as a stray cat.

Thank you for your time.

Oli

I don't know for sure, but I think you would have felt, or heard a thump if you had actually hit the cat.

This is another reason why my cats are indoor only.

this is what i thought too and im pretty sure i saw it run past the front of my car as i swerved. yes definately agree with that, had the shakes afterwards but i jsut hope it hasn't experienced a heart attack but im pretty sure it will be fine.

You more than likely would have felt it, I hit a bird with my old car (tiny Indigo Bunting) and knew I had hit it. It hit on my bumper. I was going a bit faster than you were though as I was on a small highway in the country.

Aw, bless you for caring enough to worry.

I don't think you hit the kitty. I've hit squirrels a few times and you can definitely feel it. He/she will live to scare someone else another day.

In a car, you would almost certainly have felt the cat if you hit it; imagine hitting a 10-lb bowling ball. OK, a soft one, but still...

I have hit small animals with my tractor/trailer and felt it.
