If people could control the weather what would it be like?

My question is inspired by the fact that so many of us here in the U.S. are going through a really horrible winter, and the weather in other parts of the world has been bad also. Everyone talks about the weather, but what would happen if we could actually do something about it? Would it be a lot better...or a lot worse??? I'm looking forward to your answers.

Umm IMO it should be between 60 degrees F and 80 degrees F, rain is okay and so is wind, but never hurricaines or snow.

Of course it would be a huge mess. . .humans don't understand the total impact of everything. If there isn't enough snow, there won't be enough groundwater for the crops, if it doesn't get hot enough in the summer, seeds won't develop properly, etc.

And who would get to choose the weather? Nobody would be able to agree on anything. The skiers and snowmobilers would want more snow, the mail carriers would want no snow, the average indoor worker would think that snow is pretty but not too much, and so on. The arguing would be terrible.

I, personally, wouldn't change a thing about the weather we get where I live. I love the 4 seasons and as long as one is dressed for the weather it is enjoyable regardless of the season.

I have to have the four seasons!!!!! But I hate hot/humid weather. So I would like to order the seasons temps to be between twenty five degrees and seventy five degrees. No higher, no lower

I am used to tropical weather which basically has 2 seasons - wet (lots of rain) and dry (hot and humid). I don't mind visiting cold countries and experiencing all the 4 seasons but I'd probably hate wearing so many layers of clothing to keep warm and putting gallons of moisturizers to keep my skin soft.

I think there are enough varied climates that most can find something they like or will deal with

At first, only the military would have the technology, and use it to help wage war.

After that it would trickle down to civilian use and help to avert natural disasters around hurricane season or help alleviate extreme flooding or droughts.

Some kind of law would be put in place so that one country or locality wouldn't needlessly abuse it which would have ramifications elsewhere.

Of course, by the time the technology is available, we will likely all be living in small gangs in a post apocalyptic desert environment, fighting each other in beat up Australian muscle cars and trucks for gasoline and water.

The only thing I would change (as I love all 4 seasons), is to only have each season last for 4 months. Here in MN winter snow can start in November and run thru April - not leaving much of a spring, summer or fall.

So it should go by the calendar - winter starts in December, spring in March, etc.

I would be happy with only 3-4 months of snow rather then 5 or 6!

That sounds a lot better than what we have here now, and especially if there was a way to completely eliminate those terrible Artic cold fronts that seem to happen every single time it snows.

I think it would be a hot mess. I love Rachel Caine's "Weather Warden" series- an urban fantasy book series about a group of people who have the ability to control the elements. Pretty fun stuff. I imagine any change could significantly impact the weather elsewhere.

I'd keep it at 40 nice and cold, but no snow, no ice

If we could control the weather, it would be like Hawaii. And the great thing is that if you get tired of dull warm weather, you can go up the mountains until you find a temperature you find invigorating, all the way up to snow.

I'm a big fan of the phrase: "There's no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate footwear." used by Stephen Fry's character in Kingdom.

70 degrees all the time with 1 and a half days of rain per week! I love flowers.

I like the weather we have here, we tend to get a bit of everything
post #17 of 21
I wouldn't change anything. I like the change of seasons.
In the heart of summer I would like it to be no warmer than 70 degrees with absolutely no humidity and much cooler nights.

In the winter, I don't care how cold it gets as long as there is no snow or freezing rain.

Well, the crops won't grow with temps below 70 and we do need food to eat. And since we do need cold weather and rain, and yes, even snow and ice sometimes, overall, I guess I wouldn't really change anything.

But we're considering moving to Belize when we retire!

I have to totally agree here.

You crack me up, Ducman... You are so sarcastic but so realistic at the same time, just like me.

Technically I suppose we have 4 seasons in Colorado, but I would like a bit longer springs and autumns... And I will put up with ANY weather before I will put up with wind. Wind is the devil. Humidity is a close second, but that's probably because I was raised in a dry climate and so have no tolerance for mugginess...
