no sleep for meowmy

Jericho has started finally sleeping in bed with us but it seems like once hes out of one bad stage he moves onto another.
The problem is at about 4am he decides he wants to climb on everything in our room, dresser, window, blinds, flat screen, chair, nightstands..everything. So we have started filling his bowl when he starts getting playful and shutting him out of the bedroom. But then he sits at the door, until 8 or 9 when we get up for work, pawing, meowing, jumping at the doorknob, scratching, and body slamming it until we let him back in only to go back to jumping on everything. It has gotten to the point where one of us has to get up and go sleep on the couch so he stops. My boyfriend and I have unfortunately now started our mornings in fights because im tired, hes tired, one of us is uncomfortable on the couch, and we dont know how to solve the problem.
Any advice?

hahaha yea my Kismet is the same way. He slept with me in bed like an angel for a few days when I first got him and then every day he decided to get up an hour earlier, and earlier - until I said enough NOW he sleeps in his own room, until he is a bit older and less inclined to wake me at 3 am. He is used to it and doesn't cry or make a fuss. I say "Are you ready for sleepy ni ni's?" and he mrwos and races me down to his room. I say "Crate" and he gets into his crate. I give him a treat - tell him I love him and see him in the morning, and then I go out and close the door. The key is get on it when kitty is young/new to your home... before habit sets in LOL

Good luck!

(( This works for us, it doesn't mean it will for everyone... ))

My kittens definitely have the same biorhythm. I don't think you can train him to sleep all night, because cats are naturally more active before the dawn. They don't wake me up however because I have a multitude of kittens so they play with each other and don't meow for my attention (although the door to my room is open and they sleep in my bed when they get tired). Maybe the fact that my place is thoroughly kitten-proofed helps, so there's nothing for them to break/spill/knock off etc so although they race around the house and through my room for a few hours every morning they don't wake me up. Have you considered getting him a playmate? It pays off in more ways than one, for example the kitten won't get bored when you and your boyfriend are out at work all day.
