Laziness = illness?

Ichi and Ni are brothers. They are indoor/outdoor. They have very good appetites. While Ichi is active most of his waking hours, Ni takes naps and just lays around (not lethargic, he runs and plays around when he feels like it). Now I have noticed that Ichi is muscled and quite "compact", while Ni is getting pretty round and flabby. Is there really such a thing as a LAZY CAT who must be forced to exercise?

Billy does play - but his favorite game is to lie in the hallway, grabbing at everyone that goes by.

Wow, what effort it must take for him. Perla will get him going at Smudges. He better start "grabbing" day and night to get into shape.

Pipsqueak will lay on the counters in the kitchen on the edge and swat you as you go by. He is a bit lazy, but when the toys come out, he fires up

Bugsy also plays: Flop, streeeetch, turn, flop!

Billly enjoys that game too!

I will admit - he must be motivated with his Valentine's date with Perla coming up, because he HAS been chasing a little yellow ball with a jingle bell in it. He lies in his rectangle (long cube) - dashes out, hits the ball, then dashes back into his rectangle. This is the most exercise he's ever given himself - usually I have to get him going with the Neko Flies Karantula (the ONE toy for which he goes nuts!).

Yeah, there are lazy cats. I have a couple of those. According to the experts you should play with your cat regularly and provide things that can climb on to get them to move around and get some exercise. If your kitty is becoming round and flabby he probably eats more calories than he than he burns which is not good in the long run. You may want to reduce his food intake or feed him a low calorie diet to make sure that he remains lean and trim. Sounds like Ni needs to go on a diet

Thanks everyone! I will get Ni to exercise more since it will be difficult to put him on a diet. He loves his food and he is my "food" thief (he can open bags). Maybe I will have daily races or hiding treats. Ni will be motivated to beat everybody else to the prize.

Rosie and Sophie are like that as well Sophie is solid, but Rosie is flabby. I make them do some running with the laserlight, but Jack's the lean and hyper one of the 3

If he does that over and over all day long, it can become an exercise program
