One of our foster cats (Mabel, the senior cat in heat I've written about before) is being treated for ringworm. I tried treating it topically but it continued to spread and get worse. Mabel is from the street and nearly feral (I was only able to get the meds on her because she was in heat and allowed me to touch her momentarily) so the vet recommended griseofulvin. I know the risks but it seems like the only solution that will banish the ringworm as I can hide it in her food.

So it says to give with fatty food for better absorbtion of the drug, so I want to know: what is the fattiest canned food on the market? Of the food in my house, the fattiest I have Natural Balance Limited Ingredient Duck & Green Pea with a 6% fat level. Mabel is not super picky about food, though she loves anything containing fish. Is there any particularly fatty fish-based foods?

I am checking into kitten foods since those usually have higher fat, but does anybody know off-hand what type/brand of food has the most fat? This is such unchartered territory for me since most of my cats need to curb their fat intake, not enhance it!

I would ask them about Fluconazole into of Griseofulvin/Fulvicin. Fulvicin can be hard on the internal organs & when treating ringworm @ the shelter the vet advised against using it in senior cats.

(IMO to treat ringworm oral meds are about all that works.)

Fluconazole would be the safer choice. Griseofulvin is what I used about twenty five years ago with some kittens I was treating. But I would go with the Fluconazole if I were to have to treat ringworm now.

Kitten canned would be the richest. Wellness kitten, fancy feast kitten (mine love that). Good luck, but you can get this resolved with the meds.
