I have 4 kittens that are 5 1\\2 weeks old.I have been introducing solid food for about a week now. They just don't seem interested at all. When I put it down they just back away.I tried putting some on my finger and letting them lick it off. That doesn't work either. What can I do?Are they just too young?
Thanks

my kittens didn't show a really interest until they were around 6 weeks. I'm sure they will start to get the hang of it soon. Try mixing some kmr or catsip with it and see if they will lick it up.

You can also mix KMR in with their wet food, put a little bit of the food on their paws. Also put the food in a saucer actually a jar lid is best- not in a bowl.

Yes, we use little butter dishes that you use to put melted butter in with Seafood, or those little oriental dishes that probably are for soysauce to set next to your plate. They are very tiny, but heavy enough that the kittens don't knock it over as easily. If you mix the catfood with KMR kitten replacement dry milk (can be found at petstores or Walmart and stores like that in the pet section) and add some water to it, they also get the liquid they need. It seems they often don't know what to do with drinking water at first!
Good luck with it!
