Awww! I knew of him from Skid Row.

One of my favourite songs is "Over the Hills and Far Away". As a matter of fact I was just listening to it yesterday.

He was amazing and his guitar playing completely brilliant. We LOVE Thin Lizzy - if Gary Moore's playing with the band.

RIP, Gary.

I've never heard of "Nightwish" before. I just looked them up at YouTube. They're good. But I still like Gary Moore's version the best. Not very many artists can top the original version of a song.

Gary Moore

Nightwish

It is a great song!

In 2000 I met a guy who totally turned my taste in music around. He is 10 years younger than I am and a real metal/rock fan. Me on the other hand I was mostly into country and some light pop. We took turns picking music. I can't say that he ever came around to liking anything I picked, but his music grew on me and soon I found myself as much a fan of metal/rock as he was. Now it's mostly what I listen to.

I didn't.

Personally I don't see a problem with this thread here in the Lounge. Not everyone can get to "Breaking Mews" because of the location of the forum. You have to be of a certain age, plus you have to have a certain number of posts to access it because it's a sub forum of "IMO". So if you do not qualify to view that forum, you miss out on all of the "Breaking Mews" threads too.

The OP qualifies and everyone can view it. Log out and go look yourself, it's not a private section.

I was merely curious if they had seen the thread, yet, after starting this one.

Sorry. I didn't know it could be viewed by anyone regardless of their age. I knew it was not "private" per se such as the private lounge where you have to pay a membership to view. But because IMO is a hot forum that contains more mature content/topics, I thought you had to have a certain number of posts to view it, or be over 18 years old. And because the "Breaking Mews" is inside the "IMO" link, that gave me the impression that the sub forums in IMO could also not be viewed unless you were over 18 years old.

Nope, its just to post there. That's why people that don't know the requirements (and meet them) get so confused when they go to post and can't. I'm really not sure why the tamer breaking mews section is in IMO, especially when newer members start news threads in here that then get moved there - which make them unable to rejoin the very thread they started.

As for kids knowing Gary Moore, I highly doubt many do. Even many in their 20s won't. That can be said of many great musicians that came out of the 70s, though.

I liked his music, grew up listening to Thin Lizzy, though as a Glenn Hughes fan- didn't have the best impression of how he treated others.
