A film of my cat rescued, after a few mishaps, from our roof

Hi everyone, finally got back here with a new cat after 2 years absence.

This film does a pretty good job of introducing Monty, an adventurous ginger tom who grabbed a chance to escape through a skylight, and as a result, spent a cold London winter night up on the chimney stack.......

OMG that is priceless! All those electrical wires up there and the firemen still rescued him without any injuries or worse!

That guy that finally got him looked like a cat guy. He didn't try to move too fast. He is a beautiful, but impish kitty!

That is a great video. PS.....I don't think fire departments over here will do that anymore....

That was a cute video!! Thanks for sharing! (Me thinks, though, that those firemen didn't have much to do that day. haha!)

I think the firemen must have thought that was a good call out, chasing a kitten up and down a roof on overtime rates. The whole rescue took 2 hours, 12 firemen and 2 fire engines. Good job they don't bill for it!

Monty is none the worse for his experience. I phoned the RSPCA during the first evening to get their advice. They said a healthy cat can handle a night out (it was -3C that night, or 27 F). They said he'd be cold but OK, but suggested I call the fire brigade in the morning if he hadn't found his way down.

When I called the fire brigade, their first response was "well we don't normally deal with cats on a roof"... Then I added that a neighbour had tried to climb out on the roof through his skylight to do a rescue. It was a bit slippery but he was going to try again later.

"Ah, .. ..... sounds like we'd better attend".

That reminds me of a joke I heard. The long and short of it is that an elderly couple were in their house and someone was breaking into their garage. They phoned 911 to report it, but no police car arrived. They called several more times but were told that it was very busy and that a police car would be there as soon as it could. But no police ever arrived.

Finally the last time they called, the operator was getting upset with them for calling so often because it was so busy. The man interrupted her and told her to never mind sending the police because he shot the burglar. A police car showed up in 5 minutes!
