I got to the gym after work yesterday and ran 2 miles. Hoepfully I'll manage to do the same again today. My goal is to manage a 10 minute mile eventually. Right now I have an 11 minute mile.

All I ended up doing yesterday was this pathetic excuse for a workout

20 crunches with 70 pounds weight, 20 squats with 40 pounds, 20 push ups, 20 plank jumps...It took like 10 minutes. But, I guess better than nothing!

I didn't do much last week because Tre's death really threw me for a loop and I just didn't have the heart for it. So far this week, I've been to the gym every night. On Monday I did 20 minutes on the elliptical followed by a lower body workout (ab crunches, back extensions, calf raises, leg press, quad extension, hamstring curl, ab/ad). On Tuesday, I did 40 minutes on the elliptical, plus the ab crunches and back extensions. Today, all the good elliptical machines were taken, so I did 20 minutes on the treadmill and then the lower body workout above. I wear a heart rate monitor and try to keep my heart rate somewhere around the 85% range when I'm on the treadmill or elliptical. Some machines will actually adjust the resistance or incline to keep your heart rate in the desired zone, but unfortunately, ours aren't that fancy.

I've stopped doing upper body workouts for a while because I have an irritated shoulder that I'm trying to get well. I'm hoping that it will heal up in a couple of weeks or a month. If not, I may need surgery to repair it.

I am so sorry about Tre Grogs
I can't believe he's gone
I hadn't seen the bridge thread about him either so this is so shocking to me..

Today I did some really simple yoga stretching for about 15 minutes, and then as I was watching American Idol I was doing push ups, lunges, sit ups, crunches and dips with two chairs..

Had a really bad day yesterday so I ended up putting in a massive run...managed a mile in under 9min...so I guess there was something good to come out of my frustration.

I have my goal back to workouts a week, which means I'll either have to drag myself after work tonight or tomorrow. Wish me luck.

Gotta love workouts, arn't they a great way to burn off some frustration or anger for that matter
. And then you feel much better afterwards and can think more clearly.

Lots of dog walks today, and then have lunch with a friend, and will then come home to PUMP IT UP!!!!!

I just did a really nice workout- I basically set my timer for 20 minutes, and for the first 5 minutes I did
10 plank jumps followed by 5 push ups- basically went from one to the other without any breaks or stops for the first 5 minutes...
the next 5 minutes
10 lunges with 20 pound dumbells above my head, followed by 10 of this pendulum workout that's basically good for your hip adductors
the next 5
10 reverse crunches and 10 squats holding 20 pound dumbbells
the next 5
10 tricep dips, 10 toe touch crunches

The key to this was not taking any breaks at all, just going from one to the other for the full 20 minutes. In 1 minute I basically did 20 reps, so I think in totally I would have done 200 reps total, and I was out of breath the whole time which means I must have gotten a pretty good cardio work out, and my legs and abs are burning right now!!
I still think I need some more cardio today, hopefully I'll go for a brisk walk later on..

Since I got hit by a car last Week. (my car got stuck on the ice and rolled back with the parking brake up. I jumped out of the way but the car turned as it went down and slammed into my knee. THANKFULLY nothing was broken) so I decided to rest it for a week and let it heal up a bit.

Then Tuesday I was back in the gym doing 35 minutes on the bike set to hills and then shoulders, biceps and triceps.

Yesterday... was a strength day at the gym... adductors, abductors, leg presses, exercises for back and sides on the roman chair, sit ups and leg lifts, upper back and lower back.

then an hour of conducting. (always break a sweat during orchestra lol it really is good cardio)

Today...I plan on hitting the gym for more cardio and arms again.

Well, these last three days, no workout. I have been so sick with flu and fever. It is awful. But I have not eaten much
. It is funny how I miss my workouts when I cannot do them. It really does make you feel good
so no pumping it up for me lately
...

I've kind of fallen off the bandwagon, again
Hopefully it's just temporary, but I also gained 4 pounds, mostly due to eating too much pasta. I just love pasta, it's my favorite meal, but I can never control my portions with it. And now, I'm afraid of eating too little and losing muscle along with the 4 pounds of fat, and I'm also afraid of working out and eating right because usually when I do that, I don't lose weight, I just become more fit, and I need to lose...
So, I'm just not sure how to go about it ...I'm going to try doing some at home work out today though..

I've been good this week. I'm 3 for 3 going to the gym after work. Last night, I did 25 minutes on the elliptical at 90% of my maximum heart rate, followed by 3 sets each of ab crunches, back extensions, calf raises, leg press, hamstring curls, leg extensions, and the ab/ad machine. Tonight, I'm going to try to do about 40 minutes on the elliptical at around 80-85% of my max heart rate.

Well, I finished the week strong. I was really tired on Thursday and I almost decided to head straight home, but I managed to convince myself to at least get a quick workout in, even if it was just 20 minutes. Once I got in the gym and actually started moving, I found my motivation. I did 50 minutes on the elliptical machine, keeping my heart rate somewhere in the 85% range. Friday night, I did 25 minutes on the elliptical, keeping my heart rate around the 90% range. Then I did the leg and abdominal machines.
