He was sick a few weeks ago and I took him to the vet who could find nothing wrong with him except a fever. He had a blood test that came out fine so the vet said he probably had a cold and put him on an anitbiotic. He did well on the antibiotic and seemed his old self but now he's acting sick again and won't touch food. I only got him to eat a little tuna mixed with pedialyte this morning. He wouldn't even touch the Fancy Feast stuff which he usually loves. I'll call the vet later today and see if I can get him some more antibiotic. I can't afford to take him to the vet again (it's always $100 a pop at least). I still haven't been able to pay last months bill. He has a history of IBD related illness so I'm always stressed out when he won't eat and gets sick. Any suggestions. Are there any vitamins out there for cats?

I'm so sorry Ricky is sick again. I don't understand - antibiotics for a cold? Maybe a cat cold is different than a human cold. Antibiotics don't do anything for a virus.

You may not like this advice, but I think you need to take him to the vet. Not eating is serious. Maybe you have to use a credit card to pay for the vet. Maybe you have to ask a relative or friend for the money or credit. But, it would be very sad to lose your cat over $100 or two.

Best wishes, and keep us posted. I'm sorry I don't have any other advice. I'm sending lots of Ricky's way.

I did charge it last month and can't keep doing that. He looks fine except for being despondent and not eating. I'm hoping the vet will give me something for him without bringing him in. I love my cat and take him to the doctor before I would take myself. I've spent more on his health care then I have on my own. I didn't go to the doctor when I was sick last month but did take him. Sorry this is all very frustrating. He was doing fine till Tuesday.
Might try a humidifer and see if that helps.

I'm so sorry that Ricky is sick! Him not eating is very important. That you need to take him to the vet for. Because if he isn't eating, he's going to get more health problems, especially with his liver.

Luckily I've been watching him and caught this early so I've been able to keep him eating though it's been hard. He seems to like the pedialyte so I've been adding it to his wet food and while he's not eating much at least he's eating I had to give him tuna and ham yesterday to get him to eat. He seems to be drinking plenty as well. I called the vet yesterday and he refilled his perscription for Baytril.
I'm supposed to bring him to vet in a few days. I'm just wary that this URT infection or whatever it is will keep popping up. He seems to be suseptible to infections and has been all his life :-(. I wondering if the new cat has something to do with it ....she grooms him a bit but she's never showed a sign of being sick at all.

for little Ricky to get better. It's so awful having our cats under the weather. If only they could talk.

As long as he's eating something, anything is better than nothing!
