If you've read my other thread you know we are having issues with TOTW and are looking to make a switch. I am on the search for a fish-free dry food that I can get locally either at Petsmart or Tractor Supply.

I have narrowed it down ( but still VERY open to recommendations!!) to Authority Indoor VS Blue Buffalo Basics. Which would you go with/recommend?

Louie is prone to crystals but has been controlled with a mostly wet diet. Keebler & T.J have no problems.

I would talk to my vet about the switch but he is sort of clueless when it comes to food. He really can't say what is good and what isn't unless it's the prescription stuff on his shelves.

If it matters at all, Keebler will be 2 in March, Louie 1 in April, and T.J. is almost 4 months.

--- Here is the list of ingredients & analysis.
I don't like that the 4th ingredient in Authority is corn. Of course I like the fact that Authority is much cheaper/bigger bag, but we can't win them all.

I REALLY appreciate your opinions and help. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

Equals I would avoid ... usually allergen or digestive issue or a WHY did they put that in cat food

Okay ... some kitties do fine others could have an issue

High quality or one that most kitties do well with

The manager at my local petsmart said that cats with grain issues do well on the buffalo blue. That may be my way to go. The one indie pet store in green bay has tons of sample bags I might have to go their and try out a bunch.

A no to Authority IMO. Corn, in the two of the first five ingredients!! Go with the Blue. I feed my five cats Wellness Core wet, with about 1/4 dry. But mostly wet. Male cats really need lots of moisture in their diets to help with urethra (SP?) blockages. Certain food do contribute to crystals in the urine, but mostly what it boils down too, is just get more water/moisture into their diets as well.

Our boys get fed wet 3x a day and a scoop of dry right before bed. That is where we noticed the biggest change in Louie's health, he has had no farther problems with crystals since going to mostly wet, but they refuse to go all wet. After a certain amount of it they start turning their noses up to it until they get dry.

I am leaning toward's Blue Buffalo at this point as we have fed it in the past to Keebler and he absolutely loved it... But...

I did look at petco... Even though petco is an hour away from me if I absolutely had to I could go there for their food. So if anyone has any suggestions, I'm open!

I did find Natural Balance on Petco, but again, I suck at this food thing and just try avoid fish. Any opinions on this compared to the two above?

I am not specifically looking for low protein foods, it just happens to be that I am after a seafood/fish oil free food and these are pretty much all that I am finding.

The before grain flavours were chicken, salmon and fish.
