Some of you may not approve, but please don't flame me. DH and I have made an executive decision...we are taking our neighbor's cat to the vet. She is at our house often, still has sores in the area where the flea collar was, and needs medical attention. We aren't sure which neighbor the cat belongs to; we see her all over the neighborhood. We thought the sores might heal after DH removed the flea collar, but they haven't. So we've asked our vet if we can "drop in" at some time on Friday, because we don't know when she'll show up at our house (though we're pretty certain she will show up.) The vet's office is going ask for a name. What should I call her? She's solid black, very shiny, and looks like a little panther. I am thinking Hattie, because I like the name. What do you think would be a pretty name for her?

All black? Midnight, Phantom, Shadow, Panther, Nightshade those are the names I've come up with for any future black cats/kittens that might come into my life. Although I can't use Midnight, because I already have my Midnight right now

I think what you are doing is wonderful!!! You are such an angel for taking her to the vet. As far as names go...what about Lucy, Sophie, Macy???

I like the name Hattie!

So far as the kitty goes, I would find it a new home. So what if it had a flea collar on it, it is obviously neglected if it has unhealed sores on it.

That kitty deserves so much more than living outside. Thank you for caring enough to take her to the vet. The next step is to keep her in your home or find a foster home and eventually a new forever home for her where she will be kept in side, given medical attention when needed, and loved.

Thank you all! DH has already told the vet's office her name is Blackie, because that's what he calls her. But she'll be Hattie to me.
We are also going to get her a rabies shot if she turns up to see the vet. She may have already had one, but I don't think another will hurt (at least not much.) Hattie's sister or brother (I'm thinking sister) comes here also. They are obviously related...they resemble each other a great deal. Except the other cat is solid gray (or blue, to be politically correct....
) I have already named he or she Graylin. Speck and Daisy are beside themselves that we are feeding these cats. You'd think they'd want to help a fellow feline, but no....

LOL! I like the name Hattie! It's my Grandma's name (well Harriet is; but she goes by Hattie) and it was a top contender when we were naming our baby before she was born.
Maybe our next girl....

You could make her official name Black Hat. That way you both get your choice of names.

Yeah right that's their food you're giving away! Sharing isn't in the cat vocabulary
