New To The Site: Need Help

Hi Everyone,

I am brand new to this website but am a huge cat lover! I looked through the threads and am loving what I'm seeing.

However, to be honest, what brought me here is that I'm in need of help. I run a small feline rescue (The Hope Lodge) on my property in Charlotte, NC and while 100% of the funding comes from my pocket, I've run into a case that has made me seek the help of others.

I put together a website that has all of the details (and picture) if you wish to check it out: http://fundraiserforjada.blogspot.com/ This is a 100% legit case of a cat in dire need - my vet information on the website as well.

Feel free to check out my rescue's website as well:
http://thehopelodge.shutterfly.com/

Please no pressure, I will have the surgery done no matter what but every cent would be appreciated and put toward Jada's procedure.

Thanks so much and if you have any questions please let me know!

Dear Kim,
Welcome to the forums!
I wish you the best in getting support for Jada's surgery.
I can't believe her previous owner was so irresponsible and let her teeth just rot slowly but it's wonderful that you are now in charge. I hope she gets well soon and finds a forever home!

I LOVE the name of your rescue, The Hope Lodge. It sounds like heaven for any stray cat to live until they find their forever. Looks like a great place.

I wish you the best in getting finances for Jada's surgery. She is a beautiful cat with a darling face. Best Wishes and Welcome to TCS

Pleas for Money
From the Mod Team Regarding Pleas for money:

Cats are a huge responsibility. Anyone who thinks otherwise, should not have one in their life. They are dependent on us for everything from providing a place to eat, to also providing vet care.

Anyone who has cats knows that they can and do get ill. Your best defense is to plan for that to happen before it does, and store monies away in preparation.

If you read about a plight of an animal on the internet and your heart is drawn to help. Check out the story thoroughly. Google the vet's name or call Directory Assistance in the city and be sure this is a legitimate claim.

Do not blindly send money into a paypal account no matter how heart-wrenching the story. Instead reach out to the member and ask for the vet's name and phone number, and arrange to send the money there for the specific needs of the cat in question.

If that information cannot be provided- you have your answer. Report the post to a moderator so that it can be removed for not being on the level.

Thanks for all the kind words! The Hope Lodge was a huge investment and undertaking for me but so so worth it I've saved just under 10 cats since I started.

In the rescue environment, you never really know what you're getting yourself into. I've been operating for several months and so far so good without any huge financial plunges to my wallet - I probably invest a couple hundred dollars into each cat and get an adoption fee around $60. It is my passion though and no one else is going to help these poor kitties.

For Jada, the owner was definitely in denial or oblivious to her poor teeth. The vet said they are the worst teeth she has ever seen. Currently, Jada hates me because I'm the one that gives her the twice daily antibiotic with a syringe. No fun! I'm just ecstatic that she tested negative for FIV and Leukemia - at least the teeth can be "cured".

I hope to schedule her appointment for next week once I've figured out what to do financially. I noticed the disclaimer in the post above mine but I can guarantee you that this is an honest donation request that can be verified via my vet (listed on the website).

Thanks!!!

Just scheduled Jada's surgery for Feb 10. I really hope she does well and recuperates easily. I have zero experience with this kind of surgery.

So far, no donations *sigh* I'll just have to make monthly payments on it I suppose It NEEDS to be done.
