Had sad news from the director of the rescue this morning. Scrapper, a very sweet FIV+ boy who touched the hearts of many people in a short time, was euthanized yesterday. His FIV wasn't an issue, but he was rescued with a severe injury to his tail. The rescue's vet determined that he had no ability to control stool flow due to nerve damage. She consulted another vet and did research on-line -- all to the same conclusion that it was very unlikely that he would regain function more than a week after the injury if there had been no change. The vet was convinced that he was suffering and would only suffer more. Scrapper was on her lap when he was PTS. At least he went peacefully and surrounded by love, rather than being cold and alone out on the street. RIP Scrapper. You were loved.

So sorry for Scrapper. RIP little darling.

We also had a cat at the shelter who had to have her tail amputated due to an injury. Very serious. Well, there was so much nerve damage that she was urinary incontinent and had problem with bowel control as well. Same outcome as Scrapper.

Dear Scrapper, you are whole again at the Bridge. Run, and jump and play in the sunshine with our friends .

God bless you, sweet boy.

I'm so sorry Scrapper had to leave so soon. Rest peacefully, Scrapper.

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
I'm so sorry.
Scrapper died with love, warmth, a name, and with dignity.

It's still so sad!

and to all the shelter staff who loved him!

Play happily over the bridge, Scrapper!
