My cat just got a hold of a leaf from a golden pothos plant, which I understand is toxic to cats. It looks like she only played with it and ripped at it with her claws but I was not in the room when she had it so I am not sure if she chewed any of it. This was about 30 minutes ago and right now she is running around playing and not acting strange at all. How serious is this? What are the signs she has poisoning?

Vomiting...and lots of it. And it doesn't take much. My sweet bridge kitty, Sissy, took a bite of the stem of a lily and spit it back out. But that was enough and we almost lost her. She spent 10 days with vomiting and diarrhea so bad it wouldn't stop. We were giving her all kinds of meds to stop the symptoms, but she wouldn't. However, she made it through and lived another 4 years after that. But poisionus plants are really nothing to play around with when it comes to cats. I would give the er vet a call right now if you can and see what you need to do. If there is anything you can do before symptoms start, I would do it. I wouldn't even wait to see if she gets sick...once they get sick, it is a rough road.

ETA: And I would also get a list of all plants that are posion to cats and get them out of your house and yard, if at all possible. The lilies were sent to me by a friend because I had just lost a rescue dog I had named Lily. Little did I know that they were poison to cats and I would almost lose Sissy too!

I hope your cat is ok. Please ditch the plant where no animal can get to it.

A known toxic plant in a house with a cat is never a good idea. It only takes one time....

It's good you found the leaf and hopefully your cat will not get sick.

Hopefully your cat just pawed the plant and didn't eat it. You should take your cat to the vet, just incase.
