couldn't BELIEVE what my boss and colleagues did to me!

Okay.. I KNOW I have a reputation for being pranked on, being picked on in general but come on!

Today we hosted a big conference to launch a new product and afterwards we were cleaning up and trying to put 2 big tvs back in their boxes. I was being sassy with one of my colleagues and he took some tape and threatened to tape my mouth shut. To show you how stupid I was, I proceeded to tell him that was stupid because I talk with my hands and not my mouth (I'm deaf so I communicate via signing) so if he taped my mouth shut it wouldn't work. He and my boss looked at each other with this look on their face. Immediately, I thought, "UH OH!" and immediately scrambled up to get away but both of them grabbed me PHYSICALLY and held me DOWN as one taped my hands together while I was yelling and kicking my legs trying to get away.

*Shaking head* I just couldn't believe they actually did that! some of other people from our company stood around with their jaws wide open and afterwards told me that they would stand as witnesses if I wanted to report my boss and colleague to HR (Joking) and I laughed...

2 other colleagues kept saying, "Wow, they sure love you! They constantly tease and play pranks on you."

What next???

OK, I did NOT see that one coming!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It does seem a bit over the top - but you're so good natured, and I'm SURE they do it because they love you!

Hum.... I know it is funny and all... And I am probably a party pooper on this one, but that is illegal in so many levels, I rather leave those things to outside the work environment... I know, I know... But I have seen thing turn from "love" and "fun" to ugly in a snap given the chance...
And I work in the beauty industry which is totally relax, and we get by with a lot of things that other industries don't... But inside of the office...
I don't know, I have seen it getting ugly... IMHO they should not have done that to you even as a joke. Not in the office, sorry :-/... Just my opinion...

Not illegal in any shape or form unless its against the "victim's" will. I think its pretty dang funny, and is better than the pranks we used to have around here... pretty gross having a slice of bacon taped to the bottom of your keyboard for a week and having people laugh when you keep asking about the smell or having the back of your chair loosened.

Oh yeah - that above is called harassment inside of an office. In fact, relationships that are great today can turn sour tomorrow, and a person who had that done to her could very well use that in a harassment lawsuit. Believe me, seen it. In an office, it is better to play safe IMHO.

If Pamela and her boss and co-workers didn't have the history of friendship, camaraderie, and pranking that they do, I'd agree with you. But they do, and it seems from everything she's posted that they really like and respect - and enjoy - each other.

Fair enough, but the only law on the books really is the civil rights act from the 60s. Sexual harassment falls under that umbrella, as would creating a hostile work environment for any other protected group, but its a misconception that any "harassment" is protected outside of company policy. Had to go through the details on all that on a management course. Personally, I like and have chosen an office that treats each other as family, and common sense makes it pretty obvious whats just all in good spirit. Worked in an egg-shell type of office before, and thats no fun IMO.

Edit: Although I wouldn't want it to go as far as in that show Office Space. You guys seen the pranks they do???? LOL!
