Turning around a cats sleep/wake pattern

Thread Starter
I mentioned in my thread (Kittens!!!) about Spencer and Katie, that I turn my cats/kittens sleep/wake pattern to my own by keeping them awake during the day so that they sleep during the night when I'm sleeping.

I've gotten a couple of PMs asking for more information on how to do this and asking for help with various schedules.

I want to clarify that I am not an expert in getting cats turned around in their sleep/wake cycle. I just applied to them what worked for me when I worked shift work and wanted to turn myself around from days to nights or nights back to days. I knew I had to keep myself awake for the period of time that I normally slept so that I would be tired and want to sleep when my body had become used to being awake.

On my last day of working nights and I wanted to turn around to staying awake during the day, instead of going to sleep when I got home from night shift, I stayed up that entire day and went to bed early in the evening.

I just applied that same technique to my cats so that they are in the same sleep/wake cycle that I'm on.

Beyond that, I can't really offer any further suggestions.

It also depends on the kittens. Some kittens you can play with all day and all night, they'll still be wide awake and ready to play. Midnight is my best sleeper at night, even though I don't think he sleeps (to much energy) he plays quietly. Luna needed to get up between 3am-5am.

Now that they don't have to be locked in my room all night, they can play around the house, they are both good. Sometimes I'll wake up and their fighting/playing on the bed, but that doesn't bother me. I don't have to get up for that. I'll wake up 1 will be sleeping on the bed, I'll wake up later and the other will be sleeping on the bed. Just wish they'd both sleep together on the bed with me.

Lynxx as a kitten sometimes woke me up at night, but once I didn't have to keep him locked in with me, he was just like these 2. He found things to do around the house to entertain himself. He would get me up when he needed more food, or his box clean.
