Another One Gone to Rainbow Bridge

Lovely Blue went to Rainbow Bridge this morning to join his friends, Spook, Felix, Topsy, Snowy and my other lovely cats who have passed over the years.

Blue had ESRD for some time and took a turn for the worse yesterday. He was 16/17 years old. I had him for 15 years. He was the last of my Gang of Three - Spook, Blue and Felix. I got them when I moved down here 15 years ago.

It's as if a chapter has closed on my life. Blue will be sorely missed. A super, gentle, loving cat. Got on with everyone, humans, cats and dogs. Our cat chaser, Max sniffed at Blue's body and was crying. Our other dog is very subdued and looking really sad. We'll all miss him.

Our beautiful Blue

I am so sorry you lost your boy. What a good, beautiful cat he is.

I say "is" because while you were saying goodby to Blue, and seeing him gently to the Bridge, Spook and Felix were saying "here he comes, our bud!"

God bless you and sweet Blue. What a long life you gave him. I am sure there is a great reunion going on there.

I know there is a great reunion going on.

On Sunday, I had this vision in my mind of Spook and Felix sitting just this side of Rainbow Bridge, waiting expectantly for Blue who was just sitting there about 20 yards infront of them. Lucy, Snowy and the others were sitting on the Bridge watching.

This morning I had a similar vision but Spook and Felix were now sitting in the "meat loaf" position, paws tucked under them still patiently waiting and Blue was still sitting there about the same 20 yards infront of them. Lucy and Snowy were half-way up a tree just sitting there relaxing and watching.

It seemed that Blue wanted to go to them but, because we'd been together so many years, didn't want to leave us either so I gave him that little push via our kindly vet.

Last vision was of Blue joining Spook and Felix, much head butting and rubbing faces, Lucy and Snowy bounding down off the tree to greet Blue and all of them going over the Bridge, tails held high

One day when I cross the Bridge, I don't want any humans coming to meet me first. I want - and know my four legged friends will come running to greet me and how joyful will be that reunion. The human spirits can wait!

I am so sorry for your loss. I too have an older cat named Blue and I have already lost his "Sissy." I dread the day when I have to say goodbye to him. I know exactly what you mean about the end of an era.

RIP sweet Blue!
