Some of you may remember my post from about 2 weeks ago, when I bought my new chair 1/2. Someone needs to remind my 9 cats that II paid for that chair! They've taken it over. Usually, there are 4 cats staked out around the thing--1 on each arm, the back, 2 on the seat. They just love the upholstery, too. So far, luckily, they haven't started scratching it up!

It really is nice, when I'm allowed to sit in it. I made myself a cosy reading corner--chair, floor lamp, silver tea set, big side table, right next to the fireplace. I've draped a vanilla velvet-backed faux white mink blanket over it--so nice to snuggle in when I'm ALLOWED TO SIT IN MY CHAIR. I put a hold on the matching storage ottoman, too, which hopefully will arrive this week. I
had chided myself for spending the money, as I really didn't need a new chair, despite the 2 small ones the cats have torn up. But, it's so lovely to have a nice place to read!

BTW, this upholstery (a sort of low-pile chenille?) is great for the cat hair problem I have with the faux suede. The fur sort of balls up, and I can simply pick it up and discard it. Also, the Dust Buster picks it up--which it never did on any other upolstered/carpeted (like the scratching post) surface. It's soft and warmer to the touch, too.

Here's the chair; also click on the ottoman:

Funny, nobody was on it when I started typing--I just turned around to see 4 cats on the chair again! I just told DH what I had posted, and he said, "Shh! Don't talk too loudly about the chair and the cats. They [cats] may take your privileges away." :-)

LOL That's funny! We have that problem too. We have a giant chair that matches our sofa, and the only ones that ever sit in it are the cats, mainly Nora. Here is Nora and Walter sitting in our chair:

They are so cute! BTW, I love the name Kara, and also have a Kara (Kitty; or K-Kitty as she likes to be called).

We have a futon we use as a couch. Sometimes when DH gets up, Rusty or Dusty will take over his spot. They seem to think "On your feet, lose your seat"

Nuh uh...might give me away!
Scotty claimed the recliner and until I was pregnant, we didn't really mind. Now that I'm pregnant and it's the only seat downstairs that's comfortable, he's taken to laying on me just to get chair privileges.

I'm just thankful that the concept of sharing has been accepted by him.

Nora does that to DH, we think it is her trying to show dominance over him. She never does it to me, but I'm not the "boss" here.

Hmm....at this very minute Daisy is in my place on the bed. I was just thinking...what is she doing there right before I read your post. I wonder if there is a conspiracy?

I love my kitties, but sorry, I have no issue picking em up and moving em.

When they get jobs and start hand-serving me canned ravioli in my bowl and finish cleaning the bathroom, then they get first choice. Until then, MINE.

I know what you mean! We play musical chairs here, in order for the cats to remain happy on the chairs of their choices

Tomas likes to steal my computer chair when I get up to go to the bathroom. The funny thing is that its not really the chair he wants, but instead for me to pick him up and hold him. If I leave the chair to him he'll meow and jump down to follow me.

The others will steal our spots but move out of the way when we come back. Most of them have had a close call or two to being sat on. Especially Siri. You cannot see a black cat curled up on a dark blue blanket in a very dimly lit room…
Tanna, Siri, Sho, and Tomas are all lap cats, though, so they always come back and use us as furniture.

Uh, yep! Like Kailie said, the house and all that's in it belongs to the cats!
BF is learning that now more then ever since we got Dorothy. Genever shares with us a bit, but Dorothy, it's all hers.

Often when I get up from the sofa, and Genever is lying between me and BF, she'll move from the middle to my spot.
Sometimes I move her, but usually I just take her spot, too bad if I get to snuggle BF once in a while instead of her!

Well, that chair really does look comfy, so it's no surprise that they've appropriated it.

Jamie never used to use any "people" furniture except for beds and my computer chair. About nine months ago he started napping on my sofa in the afternoon, and now he considers it his and gets extremely upset if we have company and somebody sits on it. People think we're nuts when we ask them to please sit on the other sofa because of the cat. I'm allowed to share it in the evening, but not during the day. He's also appropriated one of the kitchen chairs and insists on sitting there when we're eating.

Age is probably catching up with him so he's using his cat tree a lot less and no longer getting on top of kitchen cabinets, etc..
