We've been getting a major snow storm once a week! This week we're getting a minor 1 first, then the major 1 that you're talking about.
I'm 120 miles north of St. Louis, and we're looking at the same storm barrelling our way. The National Weather Service scared the poo out of me last night, breaking into our tv viewing with a prediciton of 12-18" of snow---on top of the ice. Of course, the local weather people are saying 6-8", which is a whole lot easier to handle, obviously. Then there's the 40mph winds that are in the forecast, too.Originally Posted by chichismom

Wow that's unusual for BC isn't it? Well, I suppose it would depend on where in BC you live.Originally Posted by CrazyCalico
Its been a horrible winter up north....The snow in my back yard has to be almost 4 feet deep. I think we have had maybe a half dozen decent days this winter, its either snowing a ton or -30 to-45 (that's celsius, plus windchill). I haven't had any ice storms though....hope your storm doesn't end up being too wild!
7-15 FEET? WOW! Glad I'm in Canada.Originally Posted by Bellaandme
I hope they're wrong on this one. We're expecting at least 2 inches of ice and 7-15 feet of snow!! Glad I got my rent paid cuz i may be missing some work!
I know! ICE??? HERE??? I almost bit it twice in the parking lot at work!Originally Posted by Noisette
i hear you. We live in Colorado and were getting an big ice storm tonight. (maybe effects from the same one your in for?) My mother lives on the east coast and she's hating it. All 3 of her plans to visit have been canceled by the weather this year.
Were crossing our fingers for an early spring!
I remember that ice storm (and the blizzard, but the ice was so much worse). We live 5 blocks from the Mississippi River, and maybe 1.5 miles from the lock and dam. During the winter, eagles feed just below the dam where the fish are easy to get to. That winter, the ice was so think and stayed around so long that I spotted eagles over the city, looking for food. That's just not something you're supposed to see---eagles flying over your house.Originally Posted by Taryn
I'm more worried about the ice storm than the snow.
They are saying this is going to to be a combination of the ice storm of '06 with the blizzard of 82.
Hope it's a tiny bit of ice and mostly snow. Snow I can deal with, ice no one can deal with.

Oh my gosh that's terrible!! 5 days would have seemed like a picnic for the ones who lost it for a month but either way not something I'd want! Glad you have a fireplace to keep warm by! Sure wish we did! But we aren't expecting to shoulder the brunt of this storm; thank the Lord! I'll be praying for everyone who is or will be affected by this storm!Originally Posted by Momofmany
The last really nasty storm that hit here had power out in areas for over a month. Ours was out for 5 days.
