Currently he's eating around 1/2c dry food in the morning (divided into 2 servings) and 3oz can of wet in the evening (also divided into 2).
Is this enough? He seems to always be so hungry!! He also eats Neko's leftover wet food (usually very little depending on her pickiness
)

I want to increase his wet food intake and I know he can eat a whole 3oz can in one sitting! I would like to feed him 6oz wet in the evening (divided into 2). How much dry should he be getting with 6oz of wet?

He weighs 5lbs; 5months in Feb; very active

I've been giving him Wellness, NutroMax, B.G., and Natural Balance primarily for wet and California Natural dry

Thanks

seems right on target ... technically on all dry he would likely get 1/2-3/4 cup

on wet only 5.5-11 oz

That's good news!
So should I continue 1/2c dry in the morning with 6oz wet for the evening or should I lower the dry a little?
I guess I could stay with this plan until he gets a little older due to his activity level...

When I brought Mr. Poe home from the vet in December I asked how much to feed him since it had been 14 years since we had kittens.

The answer was "As much as he wants to eat."

Eleven days later we got Domino.

Currently Mr. Poe (about 4 1/2 months) and Domino (approximately a month younger) are fed 4 times a day. In the morning they each get 1/2 to 3/4 of a 3 ounce can. Noon, each eats 1/2 of a 3 ounce can, same for dinner and again at bedtime. So between the two of them that's 4 to 4 1/2 three ounce cans.

I don't leave food out all day.

If they seem hungry after scoffing down their wet food (sniffing around their bowls, looking up at me in a hopeful manner) I put out 2 Tablespoons of dry food.

And always leave 2 to 3 Tablespoons of dry food at bedtime to get them through the night.

When they hit a growth spurt they eat like there's no tomorrow. Then they'll slow down until the next time.

Considering how the two little speed freaks run, jump, tussle, race up and down stairs I'm surprised they don't eat even more.

Thanks for your input! It's great that your kitty's eat mostly wet! That's what i want for Petey since he'll gladly accept
Neko on the other hand prefers dry
I have totally opposite kitties. So as he gets older I'll decrease his dry and keep his wet at 6oz.

Today I tried this plan of 1/2 c dry am / 6oz wet pm. He gladly ate his whole 3oz wellness kitten food
He even went over to Neko's bowl to see if she'd finished her Soulistic!! This worked out even better because Neko didn't have to rush through her meal with Petey staring at her for her leftovers as he was to busy working on his 3oz. She even ate all her food (1/2 3oz). Later tonight Neko will get the second half of her 3oz and Petey another 3oz can. I wasn't prepared for his increase in wet and all I have are 3oz cans. I will start buying him the big cans next week.

Happiness

ps. Petey lost his baby canine today that was right next to his adult one!! I did however, have to clean the curtain that he was teething on
