So Isis and I are currently lying in bed, with her on my chest, and I can hear her make a swallowing noise every few minutes or so. Is this just her swallowing saliva and is it normal? Also, she's purring, and I can hear air going in and out of her nose occasionally. She seems healthy, but I wanted to check before rushing her to the vet. This stuff happens often. Oh, one more thing: sometimes when she eats dinner too fast, she starts hiccupping, should I be trying to slow her eating down at all?

Parker makes that swallowing sound a lot. He will lick his lips a few times, then swallow. He's always done it, so I assume it is just saliva. Not sure about the hiccuping. I suppose you could try slowing her down and see if it stops.

Midnight hiccups every time he eats. It's because he eats to fast, taking in to much air. Also Midnight has an enlarged Thymus which is a lymph node.

If its just sometimes I'm sure hes fine. But if he does it alot it can be a sign that your cat feels sick to his stomache.

Its just about every morning that I hear the swallowing, before she gets her breakfast. I will bring it up at the vets when I take the other cat in I think.

That's a good idea.
