2 year old male cat has broken femure neck

I have seen several posts on this so I wonder how common it is. I woke up Monday morning and my cat had his rear right leg tucked up..wouldn't use it to walk. Took him to the vet who gave him an antiinflammatory shot and sent him home. It didn't get better so I called Wednesday, Thursday and today I asked for an xray. He admitted that his machine was broken, hence no xray recommended on Monday, but he would take him somewhere for the xray...you can imagine how upset I was to learn the femure neck was broken. Anyway he is having surgery today to remove some offending bone and hopefully will be home soon. Anyone have experience with this? They said he won't have a cast and should start using the leg in a few days. Experts out there???? any words of wisdom to help JoJo mend more successfully?

Thank you all!

I don't have any experience with this. I just wanted to tell you I hope the surgery goes ok, and that JoJo heals right away!

Hi thank you for your nice thoughts...he is home and looks great....bombed on drugs of course. They gave me serious pain killers and said he can have a bite to eat later. They only want him in a cage for no more than 2 days...then they want him out and about walking around the house with no restrictions. They said that this type of surgery does best when they start using the leg right away....big relief so far.

Thank you again

late to this, but so glad your JoJo is home - and I wish him a speedy recovery.

You know, I can see any office having a broken piece of equipment on a given day, but I would hope any responsible person would have sent you to another vet/location immediately for an x-ray. I don't blame you for being angry.
