So I noticed like a white worm looking thing coming from
my cats rectum. I first noticed it awhile back but thought she
had just rubbed up against something that attached to her.
But now I've seen it a few times, I'm thinking she probably has worms.

I looked today, & her rectum looks maybe a bit sore, although I'm
not really sure or qualified to say. What sort of symptoms would she
have if she had worms?

What do I need to do now. Call the vet & bring in a stool sample ASAP?

thanks

Please take her to the vet , just in case it is not worms and / or find out the type ( many are no shows in stool samples at different stages)

Sounds like tapeworms. Tapeworms don't show up on a regular fecal test, so take her in for treatment. Have you noticed any fleas lately? If you've got fleas, you'll see tapeworms and if you see tapeworms, you most likely have fleas. Look in sleeping areas for little rice looking segments.

Tape worms. Do the segments look like little pieces of white rice? If so, you need to place a call to your vet, describe it, and they will likely give you something without you even having to take your cat in. It is pretty common. One flea and they can get tapes.

Your cat has tapeworms! Do you have a vet you could call that has seen this cat? If so, just make a call in the morning and tell then you are seeing these small white segment around the anus. Most tapes won't show up in a fecal, but they might want to run one anyway..... It is easy to treat. One pill - Drontal is probably what the vet will give you. One treatment kills the tape worm. There is also a spot-on treatment PROFENDER that goes on the back of the neck up high toward the back of the head so they don't lick it off. When the segments of the worm drop off they will dry up and look like small grains of hard rice, and have almost a yellow color to them. If you can find some (I know it's gross) in your cats bed put them in a baggie and bring them to the vet, then they shouldn't have a prob. giving you the meds.

Yes, Lucky had them when we got him (he had just been trapped three days before); saw lots of the "rice" segments. I remember thinking how strange, to keep finding pieces of rice in his bed! Clean them out, then there were more! Went online; the light dawned.Thinking about it was gross, but easily taken care of. Our vet gave him a shot, a one-time thing, also treated him for fleas for us (he was feral, and not socialized in the least yet) tho she said she couldn't find any. Mentioned he could get them from fleas or eating mice. We didn't have to do any scrubbing or disinfecting, and these do not survive in humans so we were safe. Bummed out but safe.

My first thought was roundworm. How long is the worm? A sympton of round worm can be a choking sound, kind of like a cat trying to expel a hairball. In Ritz case, I heard and then found the evidence on the rug and took it to the vet who upon seeing it immediately said: roundworm. Treatment was a drug (liquid, flavored), once a day for around seven days.

It probably is a worm. You should take your cat to the vet to get some medication.
