I also put this in your post in "Cat Health"

You can also sprinkle diotomaceous earth on their food and in the areas surrounding their feeding station. It is microscopic fossilized shells that killl fleas by ripping them open on sharp points (I just love that image!!! ) It's available on the Internet.

Bless you for taking care of them.

Willowy- Sorry for the confusion...No, I meant a link to the de-wormer. If you can't find it, that is fine, I will just have to do some searching. I will try to place it in food and make sure only one cat eats it, as I can handle none of the cats. If you guys think Profender sounds good, I may try it. I am trying to find whatever is cheapest.

hissy- I will try to look for Profender. I am trying to find whatever is most effective and cheapest. I do not want to harm the cats in any way. That is a great idea to keep the water from freezing. Being in a barn, there is TONS of amnure! I will deffinately give that a try. And thanks for the idea as to how to apply the topical treatments. I will deffinately give that a try.

Ondine- So, I can sprinkle it directly on their food? Is there a specific dose, since they all eat out of the same bowl? Can one of them get to much?

And, I saw this on the Heartland Vet Supply site. It is called Triforce Feline Squeeze On, made to kill fleas, ticks, and mosquitos. Does it sound safe and effective, or should I do something else?

Here is the link- http://www.heartlandvetsupply.com/p-...queeze-on.aspx

Thanks SO MUCH to all for all og the GREAT help!!

I wouldn't use TriForce. The main ingredient is a synthetic pyrethrin, and they can be very toxic to cats. Most of the OTC flea meds aren't safe. I only use Frontline and Advantage (and Revolution, but you need to have a prescription for that one).

I still can't link to the de-wormer, but if you type "pyrantel pamoate" in the search bar on Heartland's website, you'll find it. It was the 3rd option when I ran the search. It says "pyrantel pamoate suspension (generic Strongid liquid)". You have to buy at least 16 ounces. You'll also want to order some 3cc syringes (no needles) for dosing.

The pastes have different dosing. I'm sure it can be done, but I don't know the trick. That would be a question for the farm vet. I have only used the suspension liquid.

Please dont use anything other from a vet clinic for worms or fleas that goes directly on your cat. My email bin is full of stories from cat owners who have either had major health issues with their cats and kittens or have lost them after trying to "help" them by buying over the counter treatments. Flea treatments, worm medicines and flea shampoos need to come from your vet. Better safe than sorry even it means a few more bucks out of your wallet.

Not all diatomaceous earth (DE) formula's are the same. You must buy FOOD GRADE DE or it can poison them.

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
A pound lasted us the summer, but we didn't put it in their food, we were just using it to cover various areas to kill the slugs (lung worm is a big problem out here). Every time it rained we had to reapply.
