OK I am late as usual...

Tis the season for income tax! Are you ready to file your taxes? Do you expect to pay or are you getting a refund?

I am almost ready. I just need to get DH's retirement 1099R. This is the first year he has had retirement earnings. I think we are going to get a refund but it will be smaller than last year. We don't have any taxes taken out of his retirement check as it is small to begin with.
So once I get that, I will get on the ball and get it done.

I've never had to pay, but I get next to nothing refund wise. I'm sure it'll be the same this year. As long as I don't have to pay, that's all I really care about.

I'd be ready if I had the w-2 from my former job. I have my last pay stub but it leaves out one number that I need.

Also, I'm a bit worried about the "bonus" I got for leaving this job. They withheld taxes but it might put me into a higher bracket.

Usually I did get some back but not a large amount. I am hoping it will work out the same this year.

We've paid in for the last decade or so. I keep increasing my withdrawal, but b/c of DH's union position on his executive council and all the meetings he attends, we have to include taxes for the salary for that. I'm not sure, but I think that changed last year, so maybe we'll get a little bit back anyway this year. Regardless, we never do ours until the last minute.

I don't want a huge refund check....it's wasted money in the long run because there's no interest on it and we could use the money throughout the year. But it would be nice to at least break even once in a while.

I haven't started it yet, usually finish in March. We pay quarterly estimated tax. It usually comes out with maybe a small refund, not much. I have to figure the estimated pretty close as there is a penalty for underpayment during the year.
