I think that's a good thing, but I'm not quite sure yet.

It's usually Dorothy who goes up to Genever, but now I've seen Genever go up to Dorothy too. This morning, G-cat was on the sofa. Dot jumped up, and it looked like they were licking each others faces? And then they both raised a paw. No hitting, just raised the paws at each other. Then Genever got up and jumped off the sofa. I laughed. Like they're both so laid back they don't really want to fight, or maybe they don't know how to fight.

Then a bit ago I was making lunch, and both cats came into the kitchen. Genever ran up to Dorothy, who was walking, and, I don't know, like went after her pouch underneath her! Haha. This made me laugh even harder, because BF calls her pouch her 'shopping bag' (G-cat doesn't have a pouch yet, and BF has no real experience with cats so this is the first one he's seen
). So I said to Genever "Hey, are you trying to shoplift?" I just cracked myself up at that one.

Shopping bag!?!?! Have you ever heard such silliness???

Anyway, Dot just kept walking. And I kept laughing. I hope that they will keep getting closer, and realise that neither of them is a fighter, and they'll just groom and cuddle.

I think what you're experiencing, as far as Genever and Dorothy getting closer, is very much a good thing. The fact that both girls are so laid back definitely makes the introduction process easier. There may be instances when the girls go at it, but I really believe that you're going to have two cats who accept and enjoy each other's company. In fact, I don't think you could've found a more perfect match -- it seems like, despite Dot's issues (giardia, being older, HT) she was meant to be your kitty and Genever's companion. It's just proof that nothing happens by mistake, you know?

And, as far as the shopping bag comment...I spit out my water when I read that
! Your boyfriend is quite the character! Shopping bag?! That's hilarious! And, I just want to mention that your comment to Genever about shoplifting was just as funny. Just like Genever and Dorothy are meant to be together, it sounds like you and your boyfriend are much the same. I'm going to be laughing about this all day now.

Thanks for the smile and the laugh! Continued vibes are being sent your way. May Genever and Dot be best buddies in no time!

I do believe the correct term is "spay sway".

Sounds like things are really coming along with the girls! Hope it continues to go well.

Well I just got home from school, and told BF about today's interactions, the raised paws, shoplifting, etc.
And he said they did the same paw raising thing this evening on the sofa.

And right now- well Dot rolled over and showed Genever her belly, and G pounced on it and they both ran off. Looks like they're kinda sorta chasing each other now, which is a first. Playing, I hope?

OK, they are definitely chasing/playing now.
Even Dorothy is going after Genever! Just one hiss, just now actually, so I think it's more play than agressive. I hope they get cuddly soon... I want a kitty pile!

And Dorothy is going nuts with all these toys Genever never played with, she's running all over the place, batting them around like a kitten! I'm not so sure about the vet's guess at her being about 10 years old, even if she's hyperthyroid.. she's got a lot of play in her!
And a lot of sleep too, but now.. fun!!

The "air paw" is what I call it sometimes. If it has fast movement, I call it the "air swat" or "air swat to the face". In the mornings, Daisy is often on the receiving end of "air swat to the face"

Totally agree. It was meant to be, plain and simple.

As for the shopping bag, that's hilarious. I always call it the Udder. Mazy has an Udder, she has always had it even when she was only 6 months old. (when I adopted her from the shelter) and she'd only been spayed for about a month.

Jennie doesn't have one, and boys get them too, so it is not from being spayed.

I love all the getting acquainted stories, thanks for sharing your girls with us!

I've never heard it called a shopping bag! That's a hoot!

I'm so glad the girls are getting along...that's such a relief for you and for G-cat, I'm sure. It's a great sign that Dorothy is showing her belly to Genever...I think that's a sign of security or well-being. It's good news, that's for sure. And we always enjoy watching our kids chasing each other around the house.Yay to the girls!

I know!
I don't know if it's because he's English or what, but BF comes up with the most hilarious words for things sometimes. He's got the best sense of humor, but man, sometimes friends and I just crack up at him.

(I assume the pouch isn't really called a shopping bag in England. Ruth? Ashley? Susan? Can anyone vouch for me here, that it's not an England thing, but a BF thing?
)

So we were up early again this morning to give Dot's Panacur before BF went to work. She was mad, and made the saddest cries, but ate a treat right after. And after a bit of a rest, she was playing alot with the jinglemice. And, while I saw 2 cats running around, I could have sworn there were some elephants doing laps somewhere in the house.. Then again I've heard the mysterious elephants a lot when it was just Genever...
