Hi, my kittens are pretty newborn a week and a half old and they been trying to learn to walk for a couple days and all 4 kittens look and act pretty normal... was just wondering how normal it is for kittens learning to walk to wobble over. This is the second litter this cat has had in her life(1 and a half years) and the last litter was completely healthy.also i was wondering about this with the last litter is rather it is normal for the kittens to scratch the mom when feeding because this time and last time she has some small little scraps around her nipples, not on them but aournd them and im wondering if this is from the kittens scratching and pushing on her while feeding or something more serious like matiss..thanks for the help

This mat caught my eye because of its size and texture, which traps fine litter rather well. It's large enough for jumbo litterboxes, which is also a plus. It's not quite as easy to clean as a...

That is perfectly normal. Just like a baby human learning to walk, kittens are going to stumble until they learn what balance is.
As for the scratches, I would guess those are from newborn kittens' teeth coming in and them biting the nipples, also the same as newborn humans do when their first tooth comes in.

hi Darkoking. I am new to this forum but I would have to agree with rad65. My cat Lilly came from my sister. I was able to be around when the kittens were young. My little Lilly took the longest to get her balance but she turned out just fine. Watching her wobble around was so cute and that's why I decided to keep her. My sister's cat had scratches on her nipples from the kittens as well. rad65 was right on the spot with what knowledge I had.
thanks i appreciate the help i needed a second opinion

Perfectly normal for your concerns. But the BIGGER concern is why is your cat having another litter? Please get her spayed when these kittens are 8 weeks old.
Unless she is a top quality purebred that has been shown to champion or bettter, there is no excuse for her to keep having litters of kittens.

The wobbling it perfectly normal- they can't really control their back legs for the first few weeks, so they pull themselves around for a little while, then a bit of wobbling then finally at around 3-4 weeks they'll start to walk.
As for the scratches, it's probably just the kittens claws- when they feed from their mother they knead at her belly to get more milk to flow. And when they're that age they can't retract their claws into their paws. Since they're so tiny now you can't do too much, but when they're bigger you can trim their nails. Just make sure the scratches aren't raw or bleeding.
Good luck with these guys!

Kittens are able to get up and walk at 5 weeks. At that time, they are almost ready to run off and start playing all over the room. They also may try food at that time.
However, they do go on milking for up to 12 weeks . . . I know it would be wiser to get the mama cat spayed 2 months after delivery so that she doesn't have more, but the kittens love to go on milking. Intact males should be kept away securely and neutered at their convenience until the kittens are really ready to give up the milk bar.
Kittens "kneading" on the milk bar is how to bring more milk out -- this action of the kitten actually helps the mama cat produce more milk. However, is the mama cat having any trouble with any of her nipples? They can get inflammation and it swells and milk can't come out.
