p-nut is a 6.5 y/o totally indoor female with no history of any health problems. she seems normal in every way, eats and drinks well, plays, socializes. her only problem is that she occassionally gets diarrhea. she has not seen a vet since she was a kitten. my question is should i take her to the vet for a check up? thanks in advance, rebecca

If you have to ask that question then the answer is yes. She should have a check up at least once every single year and she's missed several. Get her in for a check up and have the stool issue looked into. Hopefully it's nothing worse than worms.

I've been taking cats to the vet at least once a year, for shots and a physical, for the last 50 years. So, I believe in it.

She may be reacting to different foods, if you give her different foods, if she occasionally gets diarrhea.

If nothing else, if you get a thorough exam, including a blood draw, you'll have a baseline as your girl enters her more mature years.

One thing I try to do if mine have any unusual symptoms is to mark it on a little calendar or diary - like, ate mom's gyros, had soft poo or something like that!
Then, if a problem continues, I have something to show the vet - she may see a pattern or cause that I'm just missing.
