A question for our European members - does anyone have a Fiat 500? If so do you like it? I'm thinking about buying one when they come to the US in the Spring. The official Fiat dealerships have not opened yet so there's no way I can test drive one until then.

I had one, mine spent more time in the garage than anything else lots of major faults but from what I gather most of the faults have been ironed out now, but I would actually have another one, because they are great for round the town driving

That's my fear - too much time in the garage. Right now I'm taking a wait and see attitude. If I have to move faster I'd probably get a Toyota Corolla or Ford Focus.

The Corolla is a great little car, and right now you can get great prices on them because they are still 2010's and the 2011's are delayed due to a factory being built. Like, lots of money off the price AND 0% financing.

You can pay several payments with the difference in maintenance costs.

Just a plug for the Ford Fiesta. A new intro last summer by Ford. We bought one in September. I call it my baby car. It can carry alot of stuff in the back (hatchback model) and when the seats fold down I hauled 4 fall containers for clients!
Good for gas mileage and so far good on snow covered roads.

You know "FIAT" stands for, "Fix It Again, Tony."

May be a great car in Europe, but American driving is very different and Fiat has never successfully broken the code.

There is ONE Fiat that, if you own one, you can sell for very big bucks in the U.S. to a hotrodder. That's the Fiat Topolino.

Fiats were sold a number of years ago here in the US. Now this was back in the 70s but I remember my Dad bought one because they were small and easy on gas. My Dad normally paid cash for a car and kept it until it wasn't worth fixing anymore. My dad was so disappointed in that little Fiat that he traded it in after only a month. He didn't care about the money that he lost. My Dad was a product of the depression, very careful with money, so I know that car was pretty bad for my Dad to take a loss like that. I am sure that they aren't the same cars that they were then but I would want to wait until they had been here in the States for awhile before considering buying one.
