Any special places where your cats love to curl up for a nap?

I'm working on a new article about the sleeping locations our cats choose for themselves.

So, care to share with me where your Kitty loves to sleep? Your bed? a spot in the sun? in the kitchen? in a fancy cat bed? on top of the dog?

Pictures are welcome as well! Thanks!

In the winter she likes to sleep near the fire if it is going or in her heated perch in the sun:

On each other mostly. It's rare to find one of them off alone, there will almost always be another cat sleeping nearby. Apparently nothing makes a better pillow than another cat.

At this time of year, they're most likely to be found any place warm. Claire likes to burrow completely under the covers on the bed, so I'll go into the room and find a lump there. The others love their cozy beds in front of the radiators.

My 2 kitties sleep on the back of the couch, our bed, their tall cat tree, under the couch, under the bed...
bottom line is, to them, our whole home is their bed. LOL
Even as I write this, Dexter is sleeping on his blue pillow by my computer.

On me. Goldy just waits for me to sit on the couch so she can plop herself down on top of me. She's the only one who doesn't sleep with me in bed at night.

In cooler weather several of them curl up together on my bed on top of the comforter. In hot summer weather I find them laying on the tile floor in a sunny spot!

Goldy and Cali both like the inside of the piano as well. They even stay there while I'm playing the piano.

Lion preferred somewhere he could get dirty, like the flower pots.

We have pizza every Monday night and the second you place the boxes of pizza on the coffee table Lily is on top of them, curled up, soaking up the heat. We never have the heart to move her so we always eat lukewarm pizza. )

Boo always naps with her head in one of DH's shoes. No one else's shoes will do.

hadn't thought of pizza boxes as a cat warmer! My Pushy would just claw through the cardboard and eat the pizza.

Karen, Abby looks divinely comfortable there!

My cats have different preferences for nap spots, although they both like the bed. Wiggies love soft snuggly blankets, and we have several baskets and beds around the apartment just for him. At night he likes to sit under the living room lamp and soak up the heat.
Pushy will make do with random perches, eg a load of laundry in the basket, or a blanket (non-plush though) set on the couch.
They also both love the window perches we put up for them on a west facing window. Those are very popular on a sunny day.

Walter likes to sleep in our glass vessel sink in the powder room. Thomas likes to sleep on the empty duffel bags in our bedroom. Nora likes to sleep on the king size "decorative" pillow that sits at the foot of my side of the bed (unless we make our bed). All three of them love to sleep spread out on our bed when it is made.

In winter, Jamie usually alternates between his window perch above the radiator in the living room, the water bed (either on top of his fleece blanket or under the covers) and under a fleece blanket on one of the sofas. In warmer weather he uses those places plus the bed (with a fleece blanket, of course) way up in his cat tree.

He sleeps on top of me at night.

Scotty likes to sleep in the recliner, but lately, since I've claimed it for comfort, he's taken to sleeping on me instead. Oscar will sleep on our bed or near wherever Scotty chooses (and sometimes even ON Scotty).

Freya likes the blankets that I've personally made (not necessarily for her ) The minute I put a new afghan or quilt on the couch, she claims it and burrows in - but she ignores any store-bought ones.

Cotton loved sleeping in the bed and on the furnace grates. If he wasn't in our bed, he was in the guest bed.

Sybil loves laundry. She'll find the only item of dirty laundry in the huse and sprawl across it to nap.

Wendel isn't picky. He likes armchairs, or the couch, or the cat tree, or the bed.

I tarp my bed because of Aya's past whizzing issues. -Here's to hoping that's behind us now... But I use the covers to make a log to weight down the tarp so she can't craw underneath. I recently had to replace all my bedding and move due to me developing a strong allergy to some indoor pesticides I used.

Anyways, now the bed 'log' is made of a new super-plushy fleece blanket. When I come home in the evening there is always a nice cat-sized indentation plus donation of multi-colored and white hairs in the middle of it at the foot of the bed in front of the window.

Did I mention she has also claimed the 'new' arm chair I got from the recycle shop for her throne and scritching post...

Pixie, likes to sleep on one side of my bed, in the floor in the hallway and by the blower for the heater

Archie often retreats to inside one of the kitchen cabinets... to sleep but also if he's scared. My catsitter calls it his "crib"... Yo, Arch.

Other kind of unusual spots for my cats... on TOP of the kitchen cabinets, a pile of blankets on the floor, smushed up against me in the bed and the most coveted spot is the V between my knees... they tussle over that.. and I usually wake up with two cats wedged in there!

Oh yeah.. and this time of the year, pressed up against the air vents.

Bijou likes to curl up on the cushion on one of the chairs at the table. The chairs are tucked in under the table so the tablecloth comes down and covers him. The only way you know he is there is if you try to pull a chair out to sit down and the chair is just too heavy to move.

Lynxx's favorites were: The bookshelf in the livingroom, My bed or my parents bed. My father's chair. Under the Christmas tree.

Great info - thank you so much everyone! I'll be working on this article soon and hope to get it published in the next few months. I'll be using this thread extensively, including the pics, so thanks, and keep them coming if you have more.

9/10 all 3 of them are on my lap and legs, failing that their in their dog bed

The world is their pillow. On top of the kitchen cabinets 10ft off the ground, on their window perches, on me, on my computer tower, it matters not, heh!

They always sleep together, and typically in the same room I'm in though which is cute.

Hercules likes to sleep higher up, like the kitchen counters (on top of a pizza box if its available), the bookshelf, dressers and the back of the couch.
Gigi likes hidey spots where she isnt very noticeable. Right now the hot spot for both her and Ramsie is my blanket rack. The blanket in the middle turned into a nice fuzzy fleece hammock that they both curl up on.
Bacon and Ramsie though are mostly found whereever I am so the couch or the bed somewhere within a foot of me.

Since it's winter, our kids can usually be found snuggled on the electric blanket (which is always turned on High when we're home). When DH is in the living room to watch a show on tv, BooBoo and Whisper can usually be found in his lap. Mollipop is curled up in my arms in bed and Ms. Pepe is either sleeping at my head on the pillow or between my legs. Bootser stays around the foot of the bed. As long as the blanket is turned on, they're happy campers.

During the day if we're not home, the sun's angle in the winter is low enough in the sky that it will shine right in the living room window on the living room floor. The cats love to lie in the sun. We keep pillows and baskets on the floor so they're comfortable.

Topaz has a place on top of a plastic storage container that affords her a view of two windows for her daily naps.

Aristotle likes my bed, the top of the kitchen cabinets, and in the cabinet above the frdge.

But I was thinking of past kitties and offer these...

Tom Tinker would nap in the front window (open) on his back with all four feet in the air. Many visitors often asked if that cat was dead.

Sheba, when not knocking the potted plants off the shelf to express her feelings, liked the 9 inch pot with the cactus garden.

We had to stop hanging plants as we would often find a cat in them.

Magnolia loved sleeping against the back of my Dad's thigh. Well, until he passed gas one time and she refused to sleep with him again.

Tilly likes to sleep curled up in the laundry baskets in the closet where I store my not in season clothing (now its my summer clothes) She also loves to sleep in my softest sweaters and has been eyeing my purple cashmere sweater for weeks now I think she is plotting how she can get it off the shelf so she can sleep in it. She also loves to sleep on my black jackets for work and my students often laugh because they are covered in white fur! This time a year I find her stretched out along the heater in my bedroom.

Moo has 4 spots he loves to sleep in..one is his basket ontop of my dresser that allows him to look out my bay window in my bedroom. (my friend even asked me what was his obession with his basket) that is what I call his safety basket as you can clip his nails and people whom he would run from can pet him if he is in that basket.

When I am at my desk he loves my computer chair because of the pillow i have ontop of it. So if he isn't in the basket he is on my computer chair.

When I am in the living room he curls up on my love seat and gets really upset if anyone else or if I dare put a bag there..its his spot and he lets the world know it.

And he sleeps with me in bed at night. Curled up next to me. Tilly...will just sleep ontop of my head.

I've posted this a few times, but this truly is Stumpy's favorite place to sleep - snuggled tightly against our dog Sam:

The area that most of the cats congregate to sleep is on my bed. There is no point in ever making it:

Memphis loves to curl up in front of/under the radiators in my apartment. His body is almost touching the iron, and his legs are usually under the radiator. It makes me happy because he used to insist on taking naps in the coldest parts of my apartment (on top of the fridge less than a foot away from the kitchen window, which is very old and drafty). I used to puck him up and be shocked at how cold he was. Now hes my warm cuddly kitty, since he is much friendlier when he's warm.

Brendan's fave places to sleep are on the couch, on a table, on a chair, on top of the bookcase, on the ground, in my lap or on my bed. I know he likes them all cos he wouldnt sleep in a place he doesnt like... Hes very fussy! Aw i love Brendan haha

Boxes, baskets full of clean laundry, on mom's and dad's clothes.

But, overall, Delilah's favourite spot is on top of a tiny little cat tree that's too small for her and so wobbly I'm afraid the post is going to pop off. I've bought new beds/platforms, and moved this one to the spare room with the intention of throwing it away, but Delilah loves it so much.

Bender has many spots though his favorite daytime spot is the kitchen table especially when its sunny. In the evening when we are in the family room both he and Bakker lay on the sofa table. Many magazines are on the ground due to this. They also fight over the best spot on the table-usually the one under the lamp.

Bakker likes to lay on any article of clothing. Last Sat when I took all the sheets off the bed and had all the covers in a pile he found my nightgown to sleep on!

The girls usually sleep together usually on the sofa or their pet bed.
