So I have this "friend" who has a wife that is a crazy cat lady. My "friend" has indulged his wife's cat fetish for years and has had at least 1 cat in the house for the past 10 years or so. Lately my "friend" gave in and let his wife adopt 2 kittens which brought the cat count in his house to 3. That is the back story.

Now today I talk to my "friend" and he informed me that his wife wants a 4th cat and she actually stated "What's one more cat, we won't know the difference?" At what point does my "friend" look into getting his wife checked out for being a cat hoarder?

Please help me help my "friend".

As long as he and his wife are taking care of the cats? not abusing them? not neglecting them? then who cares how many they have? cat hoarders are people who have tons of cats, but DON'T take care of them.

Tell your friend even numbers of cats seem to work better then odd numbers of cats so his cat loving significant other is on to something. A 4th is needed. Absolutely.

If she was going to the grocery store and coming home with a shopping cart full of kitties, I would worry. If she was not cleaning her home and he had to navigate around piles of newspaper and other trash on the floor, I would worry. If she dumped 20 pounds of kitty litter into the bathtub and told the cats that this was their new bathroom, I would worry. Four cats? Not much to worry about. But if she brings in any more, tell him to remind her of the possibility of territorial disputes; spraying, fighting, destruction of furniture as each cat marks their territory. If she keeps her numbers down to four, I doubt we will ever see them on an episode of Confessions of an Animal Hoarder. Thank God my husband hasn't ever wanted me committed. We have had as many as 32 and now are down to 16 strays living in our home.

I like the sound of your "friend". He sounds like a pretty wonderful guy to be so loving and understanding of his wife. She sounds like a pretty awesome lady who cares deeply. Someone who cares that much for animals will no doubt be a loving and caring wife to your "friend" as well. He sure is a lucky man.

OMG! This is to funny! Friend of the wife I presume
? That is a striking resemblance, Bob and Thomas
.
I also think that your "friend" is a lucky man to have such a loving wife!
The 'crazy cat lady' title doesn't fit, its more like a 'cat crazy lady', or are you saying your friend's wife is crazy?

See, this just makes sense. How wonderful would it be to have all 3 boys together.

Your poor "friend" is "doomed".

Don't ask me on names, mine aren't so wonderful. They usually name themselves through nicknames that stick, purr-manently.
