I don't know if this is really health related since he's fine, but I noticed Tails was spasming like he was having hiccups a few minutes ago. No sound, just the classic hiccup heave every few seconds. Then he got up and started walking, and the heaving stopped. Has anyone ever heard of a cat getting hiccups, and if so, any remedies? I'm wondering how would anyone ever have the heart to scare hiccups out of a kitten?

had the hiccups once. It was kinda funny because he was laying on the floor in the kitchen, and every time he hiccupped he moved an inch. He got 1/2 way across the floor before the hiccups stopped. That was the first and only time I ever actually saw

have the hiccups.

Midnight has the hiccups all the time after he eats. He's always hiccupped when he finishes each meal, from the time he first came here. The vet said he eats to fast and takes in to much air, which is 1 reason why he's doing it. Also he has an enlarged esophagus, and swollen thymus which the vet said is a lymph node, and that's the second reason why he hiccups. But your cat isn't hiccupping every time he eats, so you probably don't have to worry about that problem.

Unless Midnight is in my arms, I can't hear him hiccup, but he does make a sound when he's hiccupping.

As for scaring the hiccups out of Tails, take a picture of a very large mouse and show it to him, tell him that mouse is standing right behind him, that might work

Seriously it's probably nothing to worry about since he isn't hiccupping all the time. But if your still worried, check with your vet, it may seem silly but better safe than sorry.

Perkins gets the hiccups alot after he eats. They are all just seven months old and eat so fast most of the time. But Perkins gets them the most. I asked my vet about this and he said it like humans when we drink pop (for example) too quickly and get them. Really no remedy for cats he said. It's not like we can give them a teaspoon of sugar, or have them drink from a glass upside down
. I guess we could scare them out of them
. But I could never do that to my babies
Not to worry when he gets older they will stop. I think is just a kitten thing

It's normal, especially if a cat eats fast. It's really common in kittens that don't know any better.
I've even had my geckos and past pet toads and a pet salamander get hiccups from swallowing air with their food.

Ok, my 6 year old cat just had the hiccups.  No sound, just the jumping motions that are classic for hiccups.  My finace, who treats my cat more like one would treat a 9 month old baby, just came over and threw his hands at my cat and shouted "boo".  And the cat freak out and jumped down (but oddly didn't run far, I think he knew there wasn't a real threat), and the hiccups stopped.  So yes, you can scare the hiccups out of a cat.
