Oh gosh, I just read this thread now. So sorry to hear about your Osiris being so sick! I hope he will start feeling better with this overnight vet stay. Poor baby.

Oh I'm so sorry he's got to stay! I know it's best.... I really hope the extra fluids will help him fight what is "just" a bug and he's back to himself right quick!

Oh, dear. Poor boy. Poor you. I will be thinking of him through the night and praying that he is better tomorrow.

Kailie - that's good that the vet ruled those out... however.. my friend has lots of cats.. and in both instances ... only a few got sick.

More vibes for sweet Ossie and you. It's so hard when our kitties are sick.
But it's so good that they're monitoring him so closely.

GOOD NEWS!!!

I just got off the phone with the vet, Dr. Abbate. OSSIE ATE LAST NIGHT AND THIS MORNING! I guess we must have knocked some sense into him because I guess he started eating right after we left.
He ate a little kibble and then Dr. Abbate put some wet food in with him last night and it was gone this morning.

I AM SOOOOO HAPPY!
He is going to keep an eye on him throughout the day, but if all continues to go well, he can come home this afternoon.

The vet is now thinking pancreatitis. He said it would explain all of the symptoms, and he was a little tender in that area. He says that it is hard to show on the x-rays but that when he had a second look it DID look a little hazy.

He is not COMPLETELY out of the woods yet, but this is wonderful, wonderful news. You guys are awesome. Your vibes are working!

Aww I'm not happy about pancreatitis but I AM happy that there may be some answers and ecstatic that he is EATING!!!
I hope he continues to improve and that the situation resolves quickly! And that he gets to come home, of course!

Thanks for the happy update. While no one wants to hear the words "pancreatitis" still it is better than NOT knowing, because now you have something to work on. I'm sure between you and your vet working as a team, and Ossie himself fighting, you will lick this disease.

Glad he is eating!! How is he going to diagnose him for it? Here we have a good test with Texas A&M, fPLI... I am not sure what you guys do in there in Canada...

Aww, glad to hear that Ossie ate overnight! And like otto said, while pancreatitis might not sound so nice, at least you know what to treat!

I'm not sure how he diagnosed it?? I do know that he didn't charge me nearly what he could have.

We're home! He was given another antibiotic shot, a shot for pain, more fluids and we were told to continue with the meds we have. The vet believes we are pretty much past the flair up now, and that hopefully this will not be a chronic thing.

Ossie no sooner got out of the carrier and he went over and started eating! SO HAPPY!
