Well, it's been a laugh riot around here in the forums this morning. About 2 hours ago, I promised myself a quick look at the threads, and then off to do some work.

I'M SUPPOSED TO BE WRITING A PAPER FOR THIS ROTTEN CURRICULUM CLASS!

Oh, well, time flies when you're having fun!

Joe:

1. Forgive my ignorance, but WHAT is going on in that latest cartoon? You might need to draw me a map on this one.

2. Things could always be worse. It could be 4 buns sans hotdogs.

And to dispel any possible rumors of my being a slacker, I wrote ONE paragraph of my paper, cited of course (which basically means you copy somebody else's work and give them credit). Then I found the professor who developed the curriculum I am researching and fired off an email to him. I'm sure he has nothing better to do than respond to me, so I am sitting here waiting for that very response.

Deb, you kill me. I too would rather eat 4 hotdogs, than 4 buns.

I don't eat much better any other time of the month, simply because I'm a lousy shopper. yesterday I had leftover rice, slice of leftover pizza from thursday of last week! and potato chips for dinner!

yikes!

my behavior is not very becoming of a homecoming queen...

Okay, about the cartoon: They are trolls — and they're about to partake of the nourishment available via their latest cost-of-living increase from the Troll Security Administration. They've already run out of pet food.

That beats my interpretation that she was about to get high on a thorn.

See? There's defintiely a thorn in there somewhere, Joe, even if it's the one that Colby and I are in your side!

you know, it could be golf tee that the little girl is rubbing her hands, trying to get warm, over.

Little girl? What little girl? And who is he then: Tiger Woods? And what about that big stain? Why is there a big stain on the floor?

little girl as in the female horse (and I really think they are horses, not trolls)hence the flowered hat on her head.

I noticed the stain too. maybe one of them has a bladder control problem?

They are trolls from Scandanavia, but I lied about what they're doing. (Sorry.) You've guessed it: They've a substance in that hollowed-out golf tee, which they ingest from time to time for purposes of stimulation. Then they go crash under the nearest bridge, waking up whenever somebody passes overhead. And those "stains" are merely shadows! Hey, they're never far from a stream or river.

They are inland trolls, as opposed to the coastal trolls depicted below. I've all this on good authority: Björk Guðmundsdóttir.

Joe:

I could not get to sleep tonight for wondering about the trolls in the cartoon. I appreciate your candid honestly about the thorn (golf tee?) and the time you took to clear this whole thing up.

Okay, those are horses, although they look like hippos on Rogaine (hence the tails), or Rhino's who've had rhinoplasty?
Maybe thats a bit of hay coming out of the ground, and she's praying that it grows so they'll have something to eat at the end of the month? (those flowers on her hat are plastic)

whew, I'm back. The new carpet is nice. They found some really nasty stuff when they removed the old. Like in the corner of the den there were a lot of urine stains. The carpet guys said the last time they saw stains that bad was in a former party house where drunk guys would just go pee in the corner of the room instead of going to the bathroom

The carpet is also lighter than the sample we picked out. Today the sales lady stopped by and took a sample and told us that lo and behold, the mill sent us a lower-quality carpet. But the wrapping was labeled with the carpet we bought. Apparently she is going to try and get our tile work for free. That is $2000 so it's a great deal. The alternative was to pull up the carpet and get the right kind. But who really wants to go through all that again?

My keyboard pull-out deal on the desk is stuck so 'scuse my typing. I have the keyboard in my lap and it's very awkward.

It;s good to be back. Did I miss anything?

Wow! So, any theories on that big stain in the corner? Which reminds me: One thing you've missed is the scholarly discussion Cleo and Deb 25 have been carrying on with me about the creatures depicted in my last few posts (above).

I say they're trolls, whereas certain people contend they're horses. What do you say?

I really don't want to believe that people peed in the corner on the carpet, but that carpet is so old and the former owners have rented this house out so many times that it is possible they had a bad renter or two
The neighbors have told us that this used to be a pary house, so I don't know...I have seen some guy who was passed out on a couch at a party (at someone else's house) get up and go pee in a corner so I can fathom the possibility..But it's just too disgusting for me to think that we could have lived here with people's piss on the carpet...I'd rather think someone had pets who weren't housebroken.

Your trolls look like hippopotami to me
