So I woke up to hear a cat meowing loudly somewhere outside of my door...Of course I got some food and walked out to look for it, but as soon as I opened the door, the meowing stopped
Jake woke up too came with me and was looking at me through the screen door as I was circling around the house looking for the kitty...No sign though

I put some food out and stayed around for 30 minutes or so, but no one showed up...Do you guys think it's a feral or a stray?? Do ferals meow like this?? I mean, I'm thinking it must be a stray if it's crying, probably calling to its lost meowmy

I'm constantly checking to see if anyone is getting the food, but so far nothing...

Aww I don't know..could be a very hungry stray or maybe a housecat that accidentally got out?
I hope the furbaby is okay!

What I know about ferals, and anyone can correct if I am wrong, is that they are very quiet... Gracie was a semi-feral and she has this tiny tiny meow, almost shy, very low, and she rarely meows too... It took a while for her to meow, only when she started trusting me more her voice started showing up, but she is very quiet.
It might been a stray....

If you can imitate the mother cat meow that they use to call kittens that works to get many cats to meow back.

Maybe a cat that's lost? Hopefully the cat finds your food, maybe you'll even be able to get him to see if he is lost, and bring him back home to his family

I reallly hope he/she found his way home too, after the meowing stopped there has been no sign of any kitty, and the food I left was not touched. It just breaks my heart so bad to know a kitty was lost I feel so bad for the parents too missing their baby

Well, in my experience, when I hear a cat meowing outside at night in January, it's looking for some "action", if you know what I mean...

Consequently, my neutered males get quite worked up during this month. And growing up, our mama had her only two litters in March.
