All three of mine are really vocal and actually carry on conversations with me. Nora and Walter are really noisy, but Thomas mainly does silent meows so his conversations are really quiet. LOL
Autumn is very vocal, I swear somewhere in her there has to be Siamese. If I ignore her for too long she comes over yakking away, also of course when she wants to eat or play. Sometimes she starts yakking and I have no idea why, I think she just likes to hear herself yak. It can be very annoying at times.
Lucky does lots & lots of silent meows, but chirps & squeaks in different notes a lot at night when we go to bed He waits for me before getting in his own bed in our bedroom. Then he usually walks around a little squeaking in kind of staccato, and chirping ever so softly. I feel bad sometimes cause I wonder if he's trying to call his feral buddies to bed also.(see his history in cat profile above). I wonder sometimes if he was a young sentinel when he was trapped or something, if there is such a thing.
They meow, trill, purr, headbutt, give me blink-kisses, or tell me how they are feeling with a simple dirty look combined with ear swivel and tail twitch!
A couple of them will touch me with a paw to get my attention. I have conversations with them all the time, and yes, I AM a crazy cat lady, but my cats and I generally understand each other!
I know when they are displeased, and usually WHY, and I know when they are happy. They pick up on my moods as well, and behave accordingly.
I especially love the silent meows that Penny gives me,
the looks of deep, DEEP love that Baby Bonnie gives me.
The loving, gentle head touches to my own forehead that Squeaky gives me (she holds her head against mine in silent communion for very long moments at a time.
)
I especially love the long back-and-forth conversations that Max and I have in "Mowese," as he talks loudly to me from the stairwell, "Ow. Ow WOW. Ow wow WOW. Ow grrrrrrrouw!"
I especially love the tiny, little, NEEDY kittenish meows that Ferris gives me when he wants some lovies.
The high-pitched, completely girlie mews that Ginger tosses over her shoulder at me when she wants me to chase her.
And I especially love the almost silent meows that Sissy gives me in greeting as she waits for me out front, every day after work, and the cheek rubbing she gives me as I scritch my way past her into my house.
ALL my cats talk to me, and I am so very happy that they do - it would be a seriously boring household if none of them ever spoke to me!
Mooch is the most vocal of my 2. Noodles will talk to me when she is hungry. Of course! LOL! For some reason it seems the tuxedo cats I've known are the most vocal. My cat Bunny (lives at my mother's house) will talk back and forth with me quite a bit too though.
My Memphis only meows in the most pathetic of circumstances, so I don't pay much attention to his meow. Tails meows constantly, and I meow back when he's doing his locating meow. They definitely both talk to me throughout the day.
Majel meets me at the door almost every day with screaming alarm-clock reminiscent shrieking.
Mandarin likes to prrt.. and well he grumbles and swears - that's what I call it - and talks to us and to himself. LOL
Shebrie Joy squeaks and only does that when she's out of water or food or her litter box needs to be scooped. She's so sweet to let us know what she needs!
Pipsqueak is a Siamese mix and constantly talks. Seriously talks. He knows how to say MaMa very clearly. He has a whole list of didfferent meows and a set of silent ones too.
Perla is more quiet but mews during feeding time. A cute girlie one. Presley is a noisy one. When he wants to be picked up he is very loud. Perkins does a lot of those chirrups and will throw in a loud meow with that
and Magical Magilla does mostly trills and ALL the time. She has a lot to say. You just touch her and she is like one of those toys that squeaks when you press a button
