As some of you may know, back in June I found two 6 week old kittens. Took them home & completely fell in love with one of them (Lears was his name).
Well, around early Dec. Lears began acting wierd & long story made short he tested positive for FeLV, we immediately tested his brother, Choripan, & he is also positive.
Lears lasted me only a few more days after the diagnosis, we put him to sleep Dec. 27th. Heartbreaking, but the FeLV had attacked his nervous system & he couldn't feel his back legs, he had constant facial twitching & I could tell that he was no longer the happy kitty that he was.
We are now left with just Choripan. He is big & healthy looking, but every few weeks he gets these downers. Don't really know how to explain it. He gets all lethargic & doesn't eat. Everytime this happens we begin to worry & think to ourselves "Is this the time that he is not going to get better?"
It usually last about a day or two, he then begins eating & goes back to being normall.
I imagine that just like humans with similar diseases, he may have his good days & his bad days.
has anyone had any experiences with a similar situation? We know Chori isn't going to last us as long as a healthy cat, but we will try to give him the best life we possibly can while he is with us.
