By the time 4:15 rolled around I was excited about picking up Spencer and Katie.

I get to the vet only for them to tell me that they left a message on my answering machine at home to tell me that they want to keep the kittens over night because the male is still very loopy. Well, since I was at work I didn't get the message! Not that it would have made much of a difference because I couldn't change my Handi Transit destination return trip on such short notice to get home anyway.

I did get to see them again. I didn't hold them because they only had surgery after lunch and I didn't want to hurt them.

I'm sure they thought I was crazy, but before I went to see them I told the girls that I've never had a boy kitty and since he was neutered, how would I tell them apart!
Apparently the boy is larger.

I went and scritched them through the bars. Katie was sticking her little legs out the bars trying to catch my fingers and play, and she was rubbing up against the bars and purring.

Spencer was not a happy boy! He was hissing and being very vocal. Apparently he is usually the more affectionate of the 2 kittens. But you could see in his eyes that he was very stoned from the Ketamine that they had given him.

I can't get there to pick them up until Saturday morning now. Trying to get there on Friday after work when they close earlier, is just too difficulty. And I would have to take a taxi again because it's too late to change my return destination with Handi Transit to go to the vets tomorrow anyway.

In the meantime I stopped at Pet Value and spent nearly $300.00 on STUFF!

Kitty bed
Cat tree (I'm going Saturday afternoon to pick it up. They are assembling it for me).
Lots of extra toys including cat nip bananas for all 3 kitties!
Cat nip
Puppy wee wee pads.
Petmate water filters.

And after all that I forgot to pick up an extra cat carrier. But I'll bring them both home in 1 carrier and get another at a later date.

So I have to clean my bathroom this evening and get it ready for 2 occupants

Abby gets 2 more nights of just me and her!

I'm going to let Abby use the cat bed in the meantime to get her scent on it.

I got to see the Mommy cat. She's stunning. I thought she was black, but she's actually a dark smokey grey colour with gorgeous green eyes!

She's semi feral and needs a one cat home with one-to-one loving/attention. And poor her, when she heard Spencer hissing and meowling, she started to hiss and growl! Guess she no longer remembers her little boy!

Aww, how frustrating! I thought you were going to say that they gave them to someone else for some reason. At least you WILL take them home, even if 2 days later than planned. I hope Spencer is back to normal by Saturday!!

OH heavens no!! I can see how you would think that from the title though.

Those kittens are 100% mine and I'm theirs!

Until today I was so filled with anxiety but now I'm ubber excited!

Just the few minutes I spent with them today, and playing with Katie from behind the bars, I can see I'm going to be a very busy Meowmy when they come home! I'd forgotten how much energy a kitten has....let alone 2 kittens!

I have some wand toys including "Da Bird", so once they are healed up, they will get lots of play time. I can be swinging the wand with one hand, and loving up Abby with the other

My gosh, that title scared me! I'm glad it's just a temporary delay.

Your vet uses ketamine? I won't allow it's use on my cats, ever.

They'll be much more ready for their new home, fully recovered from the anesthesia, tomorrow.

Awww, what a big letdown! Glad you got to see them, though and how fun that you'll get to have a couple of more days to get Abby ready for the new residents. Hope the little boy kitty does well and the anesthesia wears off quickly.

Oh, whew!!!! I thought from the title, too, that for some reason you weren't getting your kitties!
I was very relieved to find out it was just a slight delay.

Saturday will be here before you know it! I bet you're so excited!!

They're going to have such a good home, and they have all cool stuff waiting for them. So wonderful!!

Pics as soon as you get them home, please!

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
Since I visited the health forum first, I knew what the title meant.
But I didn't know you have to wait until Saturday!
Now you'll probably just being going crazy waiting!

Enjoy the peace and quiet - it's the last you'll have of it for ... a year?

And congrats on all your new stuff for the kitties! It's so much fun doing that kind of shopping!

I'm so glad your kittens went through their operations well!

I understand the frustration of waiting.

But, even worse, when I found my Claudio (from a "pet of the week" newspaper story about him being the longest resident of my local shelter), and knew he had to come home with me, we had to wait TEN days because he came down with an URI then, and they wouldn't let him leave the isolation ward of the clinic at the shelter until he was well.

He was promised to me then, though, and I went to see him every couple of days until he could come home. He was always so glad to see me! And I made friends, and became attached to, all the little ones in the iso ward with him, as they gave me special privileges to visit him there. It was so hard to leave them all behind!

Anyway, soon your little ones will be home. You will all be so happy! And as Laurie said, your peaceful life is over!

Aw! Your title scared me too! I'm sorry they couldn't come home today. But hopefully this way you can give everyone more attention and all that good stuff when they do!
